This is a trial done after seeing a video performed by someone else. I am not suggesting this is a original method for for filtration but just sharing that it is cheap and works.
First you'll need
isopropyl alcohol,
an activated carbon filter (ebay, hydroponics store, or electronics stores maybe they have them for soldering iron fume filters... we have them at schools locally)
A narrow pvc tube
Buds
In freezer: 12 hour soak of .25 ounce dried undesirable buds in one pint or less of isopropyl alcohol and shake occasionally.
Strain from buds and here's picture of equipment. The pvc has a slice of a replacement activated carbon filter (from an inline scrubber fan) rolled up tightly and stuffed inside. Notice how dark the tincture is.
Filtered once with a carbon filter. It's already looking much more pure.
After the initial filtering, the carbons were clogged with some pretty nasty stuff. So i replaced the filter with another of equal dimensions.
After 5 more runs through this filter, the tincture was cleaned to an amber color.
It is helpful to have two containers so you can transfer the run off back into the measuring cup and pouring the measuring cup back into the pvc filter column without spilling.
