you can use Dynamat. its what people use in the auto industry to reduce road noise and vibration... lots of other stuff too like B-quiet or simple using foam insulated piping.

how much heat is reduced from just the air cooled hood with the glass cover..no fans or ducting cooling the light itself.??.just fans in the room?? is it much less then having an open hood with no glass?? its a 1000 watt hps light

The Speedster is a popular controller, accepts 3 prong. There is also one that is a temperature controlled if you don't want it running all of the time, but from what I understand it's not a variable speed controller, its on or off. EL500 it what I've seen it listed as.
