Inconspicuous Enough?

So I'm in the middle of my first grow but I wanted to make sure that the traffic of friends coming through my house didn't notice the fact that I was growing weed... since, of course, nobody needs to know about it.

Which brings me to my question. Do you think this is inconspicuous enough? I built a floating wall in my basement, sheetrocked it, painted it, hung some album covers, and constructed a "secret door" built in bookshelf. The bookshelf is on casters and cannot be opened unless you know how to activate the secret latch. If you were to come into my basement would you be in any way suspicous?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. The inner sanctum of the grow area has to grow cabs. One is for veg, and is being utilized presently; while the other is going to be for flowering and will be utilized given the fact that I bring my plants through veg without killing them!

And here are some pictures of the guts of the operation. First is my little scrap wood shelf with supplies. Then is a few pictures of the veg grow cab closed and then open. In the background of the final pick you can see where the flowering closet will be.

I figured since I have the veg on 24hr light I wouldn't worry too much about light leakage (and since it's behind a wall anyways) and the flowering closet is pitch black with the door closed so hopefully that will eventually be a good place for my sticky little friends.

Well, if I'd been to your house before and noticed that suddenly your basement was smaller and a bookcase was sitting in front of what looks like a door frame... then yeah, I'd be suspicious.

If I'd never been to your house, I wouldn't notice that your basement had gotten smaller, but I would probably notice the door frame around the bookcase =) And not to frighten you, but if it came down to it - the cops would notice it, too.

Aside from the door frame that can be seen behind the bookcase, I'd say it's a very nice secret room.

How cool is that. I seriuosly wouldn't worry about anyone getting suspicous about that(if it's there first time down there that is). Unless they have been down there and notice the room got smaller. LOL. I think it turned out awsome. Just make sure there's no light leaking out from behind the bookcase and your good I think. Great job. +reps.

props man really nice, well put together my one criticism is the white strip on the right hand side of the bookshelf sticks out a bit against the cream wall.

Yeah, the only thing that I am less than sure about is the outline of the shelf unit. I was going to go without the trim I tacked up but then there was an obvious gap. So I tacked up some toe molding in an attempt to make the gap disappear.... and then built a "trophy shelf" on top... but perhaps I'll stain the trim and shelf the same color as the rest of the bookshelf. That might mask it better and keep it from looking like a door frame, as you stated.

And hopefully, if it remains secret enough, the cops wouldn't have reason to ever be in my basement!!!

id consider painting the plinth at the top a darker colour and removing the trophies but keep em in the room lining the door with big sparkly things draws a lot of the eye! but putting them on the other side of the room....

Ok, sorry it took me a while to get an update here...

So this weekend I had a moderate sized party at my house with about 40 friends over and even though probably 10 of them had been in the house before nobody noticed anything!

I DID paint the trim brown before they came over (and per D&G's suggestion will paint the plinth as well) so peoples' eyes weren't drawn to it. And I uploaded a picture from near the other side of the basement so you can see that the room where the grow is taking place is only a small portion of the space... that way it's like I've only trimmed off 5% instead of 50%! Plus, there are 3 other basement rooms that aren't shown in the pic.

And as you can see from the final pic I've got some more supplies. Namely some duct work with an inline fan, into which I will place a homemade carbon filter.

As I install I will update further.

Thanks man! Yeah, I was a little nervous when everyone decided that my house would best for the party since there would be so many people but I was super happy that absolutely no suspicions were raised.

Of course, everyone was drunk and high so they were probably less observant than normal... but still!

I love the setup! As long as you keep your mouth shut (which will be hard because that's really cool and we like showing people cool things that we have ) you'll have no reason to ever get caught.

Some constructive criticism:
I noticed the "tracks" that the shelf leaves as it swings open on the floor in front of it. Ideally, you could mount the bookcase to the wall so it "hovers" over the floor when you open it... Or I'd just put a rug there or something to cover them that doesn't look too conspicuous.

i really like that setup bro, love the secret bookcase too awesome man. havent seen this sort of thing before. I wish i had an extra room to do that with.
