Funny enough I'm working on cell towers and never have service. Ill try to squeeze some though this dickey cup and string.

I do need a better phone though, I have a revel2 I think? That's how it identifies itself on Bluetooth so who am I to judge. I will say the camera is an etch a sketch at best. Any good camera phones that don't look like they climbed out of a chernobyl swamp with a bunch ah lenses would be ideal. Ill break them all.

I'm surprised they don't supply you with a company phone as part of your safety package.

What happens if something goes wrong when you're 600 feet up or you run into a situation you've never seen before?

You guys have frequent safety meetings, right? What's the procedure if somebody gets cut or pulls a muscle, twists an ankle or gets hurt or sick?

We had a 200 foot tower where I worked with an escape line with a counter balance in the center. If something went wrong, you could be at ground level in 30 seconds without doing anything other than holding on. It was right beside a vertical furnace with a hydrogen atmosphere in there, they didn't want anybody burning alive from a seal leak fire.

What's your rapid evacuation emergency set up?

This is the topography I was thinking of earlier, damn hard to get a construction crane there. Great Pics Inda, be damned careful.

I rescue my buddy or he gets me..we call 911 saying the rescue is in process or the local fire force will take over and leave the guy up there for 4 hours. Typicality we are the only ones with rescue training for the heights in thousands of miles. I strap him to me and repel down or as they say a 'controled descent' because repel sounds to fun. 200 is a baby so they can build that type of system but I haven't come across one.honestly If something goes wrong I figure it out, that's kinda the job. I'll keep the pics coming once I see civilization I'm 30 hard miles from pavement right now

Fascinating thread with high upside potential.

Can you take some pics of what you work on up there?

What exactly is up there that runs the tower, electronics, power packs, computers, servers? Do you use a laptop to service things? Is there electricity up there?

Do you have to replace components? Do you carry spare replacement parts up there? Does lightning ever KO the electronics, they have to get hit a lot.

Enquiring minds want to know what's up there.

I've been replacing the safety climb device.. aka I climb with a new mount and steel cable on me on a tower with a tagged out safety system here are some pics I may have the RF units in them..I can. Take a pic tomorrow if notuIMG_20191024_151858.jpg so that's a ladder mount and new safety climb..this is on a 290 self support tower (no lines on it) you can see a tma of some form and a couple rf panels.. I wasn't really even looking at those tho this tower was near a dump and covered in bird dump...real good time. I also dropped my impact drill off this luckily it got hung up 90 feet below me.. my phone took a fall from 200 when I went to get the drill.. luckily it fell into pure trash and only powdered a corner of the screen...must have fallen on a stiff sock

Don't worry things went sideways. I was litteraly ontop of a monopole tower in Bismarck ND and got a call from I guess my boss. It's 30 on the ground and snowing with a 20 mph wibd so I'm in some pretty rigor mortis breezes at the top. He asked if I wanted to go to Florida I thought it was a joke and said yes. His reply was good you have an hour to get to the airport. I'm 140 up still working and he let me know it was okay to run in the airport. Made that flight with a 2 hour layover in minnisnowta. Met a something or other and missed my connection flight because some mother had the audacity to beastfeed in the family bathroom and she was uncomfortable going in the men's room and I shouldn't even be in the bra section of Walmart. Long story longer I'm stuck in Atlanta for a few hours now but I certainly had night at knockouts bar. Smoked a buncha blunts inside and slanged some pool. The Uber driver asked me if I was sure I wanted to go there multiple times, called her racists @UncleBuck and made a friend. She looped back when they let out and I was pumped to see that silver accord license Q something waiting. We just hit a local late night dinner for some meh food. I think she's either pooping or dead in the bathroom so I may change rooms or roll with it.

I didn't plan for this but while I've got you here I'm going to set the tone with some vile I just saw
