Indoor grow first ever help.

Hello i am planning to start my first ever grow. I want to grow about 4-5 plants.I have a 4ftx4ftx5ft space avalible and heres what im thinking.

Paint it in white or possibly tinfoil all the sides.

I was thinking a 400w HPS light with cooltube. Using the HPS light for veg and flowering .

Would i need another ventilation system for the grow room or wil the one for the light be enough?

And how to setup the ventilation system for the light and possible the room?

Any help will be much apreciated

Thinking of gettin MH bulb aswell as HPS to use MH for veg and HPS for flower anyone do this??

here's a couple of things for you to think about:

- tinfoil is a big no no, white paint or mylar

- typical ventilation of light would be: carbon filer - fan - ducting - cooltube - ducting outside the room. passive vents to let in fresh air.

whether you need more ventilation depends on the ambient temps in the area surrounding your grow room. if the air entering the passive vents is cool enough you will not need additional venting. if it is hot you may even need an a/c in the loop

- lots of people use mh for veg and hps for flower, lots use just hps

Ok thanks i was having second thoughts on the tinfoil lol just trying to get my head round the ventilation would the carbon filter go outside the grow room?

i have been thinking and this is what im gunna do buy a 400w light and cooltube setup with a MH and HPS bulb. When i want to swich from MH to HPS for flowering as i am goin to have a 18/6 cycle for veg do i wait till just after the 6 hours dark. Then open my box change the bulb to HPS and set it to start 12/12?

Really confused

you can set the 12/12 cycle for whenever its convenient to have the light on for you to work in your grow space.

so i could go in and change the bulb and set it to 12/12 even wen the plants whould normally be in the dark or halfway through there 18 light?

say it was 12 mid day and the lights were on and had 5 more hours till they would normally be off i could go and change it? then start the 12/12 from there

its not something you'd want to do every week but a one time change over is not going to hurt the plant.

Thanks alot i was really worried about turning them hermie so youve cleared alot up for me im goin to wait till its right for me like you said like about mid day and change to hps and 12/12 from there weather the lights are on or not.
