Indoor Legal Grow Beginners

Hello! I am planning to operate a legal indoor cultivation facility that's around 10,000 square feet. I believe even when a market is saturated, if you're product is the highest quality it will still sell. I am obviously hiring a lawyer and working with him to become licensed but while that is happening I was wondering for some recommendations on *organic* and *cost efficient*: Soil, lights, security equipment, pots, seeds distributer (I'm in the US), nutrients and a nutrient cycle. Also looking for recommendations on threads or books to read to become an expert at cultivation seeing as my purpose in this business will be the grower and breeder. I've had outdoor growing experience before but never indoor. Much obliged!

I love how much I have learned just being a member of the rollitup, great help. I have acreage in Utah that I would like to build an indoor grow. They recently approved medical marijuana, so it would be a supply for researchers, and medical approved dispensaries. The state still has to figure out all the legislation, and rules so it won't be open for license applications until 2020 or 2021. Ugh...long wait.

Have you actually checked licensing? The legal market is a squeeze. A lot of players with full pockets.

Getting licensed is going to be costly, I know. An alternative is to lease the property to one of the 'players'. Utah is not even taking applications for licensing until 2020 or 2021, so I have awhile to do some research and maybe find an alternative. :leaf:;)

It's not just the license. No credit so everything is cash up front. It's a lot of money down before you start trimming the first crop. Not saying it can't be done because obviously it is. Hope it works out. I would recommend you visit more than Colorado and visit some operations. One guy here said he had a half million in before the first crop came in. Good luck.

Holy shit, hire a pro to get you off the ground. Don't be afraid to put your money where your "Brand" is, hire the best with a good crew . . .and profit. This ain't roses, the book work and tracking is so tedious . . . And prosecutable!

Getting your marijuana handlers card is a requirement here. Anyone involved in any way is required to have it. Know the requirements because @Coloradoclear says is daily truth. The first legal retail to open in Alaska is now shut down and on the hook to the state for a half million in fines.

Yes, recently MA has enacted a bill to allow for more small business and local growers to obtain more permits, I have connections in other states that I believe will make the state go with me over other local growers

States should be encouraged to bring small illicit growers into the light and into legitimate business practices.

One of the things I'd like to see is free or subsidised testing for small scale farms

After more research I realized I was ignorant to think I could train myself to be the grower. Have since created a questionnaire and interview process to hire potential growers that have a good track record. Thanks for the response <3

They should and they are (well at least the small growers part, the illicit part is still a very sensitive subject for ignorant reasons, seeing as the best growers today started illegally yet if you put that on an application you would be instantly turned down)

I hate the king's new outfit. And how quickly we all pretend it is there if there is the slightest chance we will draw less attention.

I think for people to be treated equally, any criminal history relating to cannabis, should not count anything for or against you.

I could not agree more. I can already see how this whole new S.A. market is going to be swallowed up by "Big Pharma" by means of impossible licensing laws. I can only pray that the government will be able to see this, but with a look at their past conduct, I doubt that. Greed always seems to triumph.
The truth is that our economy has for years leaned heavily on micro to small businesses. It's also well known how big business attracts and enables corruption at the highest levels. So all that potential will just end up fattening already bloated pockets.

I agree. There are some growers that can be very competitive, with new ideas, techniques, and have a lot to contribute.

A lot of these "get rich quick" schemes will die a gruesome death. As laws get more permissive the amount of "home grows" increase dramatically, there will always be "a" market for legal dispensaries.....But I think it will dwindle as time goes on. Not the best investment.

You can grow many other things you use daily... most people are too lazy, depressed or tired to bother.
