how much would it cost for me to get the bare minimum to grow a couple plants indoor and what do i need? i dont have any equipement yet

Depends on how many plants you want to grow.
One shoplight with cool white bulbs is about all you need to veg a few plants. You can add gro lux bulbs if you want to spend the extra money or add another shop light, shop light I'm talking about 2 bulbs, 40 watt or 32 watt.
Then for flower depending on how many plants you are growing. I usually recommend a 400 HPS or bigger but if you are only going to do 1 or 2 plants you can get and HPS light for $42. a 250 for around $100 and a 400 for around $115, if you have the extra money you can get an electronic ballast setup fro around $150.
Then you have to add pots or $2 trash cans from walmart plus dirt. Veg and flower nutes for around $30.
You can have a decent setup for around $100 - $200 if you are doing soil.
A great setup to start is a shoplight to veg and a 400 watt HPS to flower, that's what I recommend.

if you do go with hps lights get a cool tube, well a bake 'a' round off ebay
20 bucks shipped give or take 2 bucks, and about 10 bucks or less in parts from lowes or home depo to make the cool tube..

Ok....I am using a fish tank for the plants house. I am using two fish tank lights with 4 cfls. A hanging light with 1 cfl and a workshop light with 1 cfl. A normal house fan. This is all in my closet covered by a house coat. A winter coat and a pair of jeans. The tank is covered with cardboard with tinfoil on it. I used soil from out side. I already had all this so everything was free. My girlfriends mom had all the special nutes for me to use. I was unemployed when I started all this. If u really look and borrow a couple things u can do it for free. If I can anyone can. I beleive in all the poor people that r as poor as me! Good luck
