industrial henp seed

Problem: Wish to grow a high CBD very low THC variety of either hemp or marijuana. (This is not a rant against THC.)

Two questions:
1) I took a look for 'industrial hemp seeds' under a number of search variations. I could not find any equivalent of any number of marijuana seed sellers. (Not entirely true, I could order a fifty ton minimum, price per seed was great, the amount was rather much.) Does anyone know where to purchase industrial hemp seeds in small amounts? Even a pound or two is OK. Most of what I found on line was like the above or sterilized for the American market. From what I understand Hemp is manipulated to remove THC

What I am looking for is the equivalent of any number of high grade seed sellers for marijuana, but I am willing to consider any reasonable mode of acquiring the seeds or a seller with larger amounts as long as they are not sold ridiculously large amounts.

2) I got some high CBD pot that was tested at 22 percent CBD and 1.2 percent THC at a club. But it is very hard to find and the one shop that has it tells me that they sell out in a day or two when they get it in. Given the percentages and ratio of CBD to THC I suspect that some one got hold of industrial hemp seed and produced the product. It was sold under the name 'Canna t SRO1' or something reasonably close, sorry, I do not have the package. If anyone has any information on this or similar strains, again with very low THC (>3%) and high CBD (<15%) could you post the info here? I have done a web search but most of what I find are strains have more THC then I want for this grow.

Thanks,
Idra

Thanks for the replies. One correction about my presumption of Hemp having high CBD rations compared THC, while the reverse is true of Marijuana. While this is generally true, the strain I was originally referring to was Catatonic - 6 and not 'Canna t SRO1' as originally written. I have had several varieties of Catatonic with varying rations of THC and CBD so it is likely a commercial marijuana strain. (Catatonic - 6 tested at THC 1.2 %, CBD 22.%, sorry lab info was not given on label. Quote about and to reference to product follow.)

"This lab report indicates that "cannatonic #6" was high in CBD with hardly any THC, perhaps also indicating that the "cannatonic" strain is either unstable, genetically producing different cannabinoid results with each plant, or getting different results under different growing conditions."

"This lab report:" directs to the following report. (no changes have been made from my possession to posting.)
CANNATONIC.HPLC.1.22.11.jpg

Admittedly it is not a lot of info and the suggestion that the strain is inherently unstable may not be true. It could also suggest reasonably stable variations on a theme, one of several.

Trying hemp to produce something like Catatonic - 6 may work. I was hoping to find an off the shelf variety. Oddly the real problem is getting hemp seeds. They seem tightly controlled. Again thank you both for the suggestions. Both avenues seem reasonable solutions.
Thanks much!

i was going to suggest cattanic strain by resin seeds.. it's one of a handful of high cbd strains out today.. or try herligein i think it's called.. not sure on a breeder for that last one though tbh..

also, like has already been stated, check out the cbd crew.. they're working on a whole line of strains high in the cbd.. :D

Idra, I really don't think industrial hemp is what you're after.

Yes, most of those strains will put out more CBD than THC, but they've deliberately been bred to put out as few cannabinoids and as much fiber as possible.

You're simply not going to find a hemp strain that puts out 0.04% CBD and 0.02% THC particularly helpful for medical purposes.

If you need medical CBD what you want is a purpose bred high-CBD medical strain.

To be clear, these two strains are properly called "Cannatonic" and "Harlequin".

In both cases, since there is a lot of medical interest in these high CBD strains, ceeds of both tend to sell out quickly and are quite difficult to locate. If you're in a medical state you may be able to pick up a clone of these.

There are a number of purpose bred high CBD strains by a high-end breeder collective calling itself the "CBD crew" as well.

In general, yes, these high CBD lines tend to be a bit unstable potentially making breeding of them tricky. For breeding purposes, lab testing is necessary to determine if a given plant makes CBD or THC.

go to the grocery store and get some mixed bird seed for your "birds"... make sure its made in china. should find plenty of it in there.

bird is the word my friend.

Thanks for all the replies. I got harlequin clones at a club to start and it seems to be the right place to start. So far it has been pretty a forgiving plant surviving my blunders. I have to admit that the bird seed suggestion is pretty cool and I am willing to try when I get far enough ahead with some of the other varieties.

beyond that a big Thank You to the people who have posted here about their experiences in general, what goes wrong and how to correct problems. I'll post how it goes, but so far so good. Much thanks!
