In field soil, there's this thing called the water table..

That's what, when I was a newbie. I called, overwatering...when there was a water table at the bottom of my fabric pots!

Thank you I have never studied farming at that level to consider the saturated layers. I love this site, who expected to learn this stuff...

One of the biggest problems I see people having with fabric pots is that they place them on a non-porous flat surface. How are they supposed to drain like that?
Not the repotting?
My roots grow through the pots without an issue if placed in, on the ground or a larger pot. Why all the tearing out of the smaller bag?

Yeah, I guess that's fine if you don't want to reuse your pots. I have some plastic pots that I've used for over 10-years though.

I think the idea of fabric pots is great but I agree with most of the sentiments here that the practical application leaves much to be desired. They are also annoying to move around, seems like the roots can get jumbled about.

I know it. My plastic pots grow plant fine.

The roots will grow through the fabric without an issue though. Mine were basically velcro'd to the lawn last year.

Want mine? I have spent way to much on them and now will not be using them any longer they dry out my organic soil too quickly.
Same here. I have a huge box of them that I was planning on using but they dry out my organic soil too fast too. I spent over $100 on them from 247 garden, lol. It is really dry here. They might work great in a more humid environment.

Even when I have my ink birds and humidifiers going it still drys them out. I'm done with them just going back to traditional pots for small stuff, but I mainly grow in SIPS now.

I don’t know man.
Never had a problem with fabric pots inside.
They don’t dry out on me any faster than plastic used to.
I use a wire shelf to keep them off the floor.
They’re $3 around here so if I can’t clean one or two sufficiently they go in the trash.
And my plants never get rootbound.
Work great for me.
