Intake/Outtake ducts

Hi all, Happy Wednesday
,

Just working on my plans for my 6x6x6 room, I think one of the most difficult questions I cant answer is intake/ outtake and cooling the light.

The room I have Is outside attached to the house, plastic roofing. Now, would I have an intake somewhere and if yes, Where? And when its idol would smells escape through it?

Secondly, my outtake, where would I position it?

Thirdly, what cools the light? Is that a separate venting system?

Sorry about the stupid questions, but any recommendations or advice would be warmly received........

Thanks.

no such thing as a stupid question. heat rises so out the top or near cool at bottom or near. carbon filters for the smell. and it's always better to cool lights with a vented hood or reflector if you can.in my novice opinion.

yes have the out take as close to the top of room as you can with carbon filter attached, have the intake at the bottom of room in the opposite corner than the outake, so have carbon filter then fan then ducting to light(cooltube/shade) then ducting to out the room. or you could have carbon filter then ducting to light then fan then ducting out room. also i have my intake and out take on 24/7 if your turning the intake off and your worried about smell then fit a damper on to the intake so when its off no smell can escape.

So you can rig a filter and cool the lights to one intake fan with no problem? And whats the best way to get fresh air INTO the room?

Thanks for the response.

So, I can cut a hole in the roof and in the bottom of the wall no problem, but I just cant work out that if the light reflector is sealed and there is air coming in and going out of the sealed light unit, why wouldn't I need two extra holes cut into the roof and wall for air in and out off the grow room??

I know im missing something here, and you kind people are going to have to spell it out for me, sorry.

Thanks very much and sorry................

im just going through the same process , im going to use ONE fan with a carbon filter in the top left corner , and a less powerful fan on the floor in the opposite corner for air flow in
[ negative pressure ] .

Then when i buy my hps lamp, ill get one with air cooled hood, then i will ad a T section and have TWO fans, one for air exchange and one for the hps lamp.

My closet probably isn't anything like your outdoor room but my setup is similar. I have a 16"x8" rectangular passive intake on the bottom of the closet door. My exhaust is run through a cool tube and pulled by a 240cfm duct fan and expelled into the attic. There is definitely negative pressure, but I have so much weatherstripping around the door frame to kill light leaks that I have to force it shut lol. Before that the fan would pull the door slightly in. I get ~5+ temps over intake room temps if it's not 100+ outside, on those days it's like +8-9. :(

MAx I have seen is 88 on the worst day, usually its 78-84. I couldn't be happier with it. Fan + grounded wire kit: $30, 25' of 6" foil ducting: $10, hole in the ceiling: priceless.
