Why are intake vests allsqas in the bottom of grow tents. If the air they dwal in is colder then wouldnt it would it make more sense for first air intake to be near theTop so that colder is a coming into the box and if there a fan there .there it should do a better job and cooling a growtent /box. Cold is heavier the warm air so it would get pushed refiund by fans and eventually end of st the bottom of the grow text
I do t have a growtext I have a 5.5 x 5.5 box(same thing I guess that has two four inch holes pretty high up on opside side walls for cooling my old hps light.
Ha s anyone tridnd this???!
or any thoughts on this?

You want it to pull cool air in and take hot air out. Cooler air is lower so the intake vents are lower. This also makes sure that the air passes from bottom to top through the plants. If intake and exhaust are both at the top, then you are pulling warmer air in and there is a good possibility that that air is not circulating and it is just passing straight through the top of the tent. In one ear and out the other, if you will.

Exactly. Pull in the cool air below as the cool heats up, it rises where the fan extracts the hot stuff. It creates a consistent flow. If you pull in cold air at the top, it heats up faster and just gets pulled out by the exhaust fan already at the top anyway.

Won’t the cool air coming In box fall to the bottom over the plants and the warmer air from the lights end up at the top and getting pulled out of the room?

What if the air coming into the tent is the same temp Either coming in from the bottom or near the top of the box. My box is I. My garage and I’m pretty sure the difference in temp from the floor to 4-5’ high is not that much.

If your exhaust fan is up top, nothing is falling down. It is sucking everything up and out. Therefore, you want the intake to be opposite the exhaust. That way it makes airflow up and through the plants on the way out. Even if it is only a couple degrees cooler, it is still cooler. If I take and exhaust is up top, the air on bottom won't circulate as well and the fresh air will never make it down to the plants because it gets sucked right out the exhaust.

What we don't want is pockets of non circulating air.
