I bought some insecticidal soap but never ended up using it. the gnats just kinda went away. I think letting the soil dry out is really what did it.

Thanks man. I have actually taken a few, but my camera isn't nearly as nice as yours and I haven't bothered to post them or take any more recent ones. Now that the buds are getting larger it should be easier to get a decent shot, but my camera just doesn't seem to focus well on something that small and close up. Any ideas on what kind of setting changes I could make to improve the shots. I've played around with the settings, but I don't really know what I'm doing. The camera I use is a cannon I bought my girl for her birthday last year. It is pretty nice and cost like 220, but it's still a pocket sized digital camera.

What's up guys, It's day 27 of 12/12 and it's been 13 days since I went in and topped all my plants. The 12/12 plants still aren't showing any signs of flower, and continue to stretch up. They are obviously very sativa dom and I will just have to wait it out and let them do their thing. Each plant has a staggered node here and there, but it's not consistent, and all the new growth is still coming in sets of 2. In the meantime, I have started tying down the new shoots, and today I went in there and topped each of the four main colas on each plant. Keeping these as low profiled as Lady #3 is going to be a challenge as things keep moving along. I won't do anymore topping, just lst from here on out. I just wish these things would put on bud and stop growing already! Lady #3 is looking great and making me really very happy. Leaves are starting to yellow already, will probably feed with a tea within the next 10 days. Here's some pictures from the 4th before I topped and from today after I did so.

Things are moving pretty smoothly at this point. Hope to stay on this path for the rest of the grow. I'll try to remember to get a picture that shows the bud's size relative to another object on the next update.

Thanks! Those are great shots for a point-and-shoot camera. My only tip is to make sure you're on "macro" setting and taking at the highest resolution in your settings, and then you can crop the photos a lot and still have a high-quality photo (that looks like it's a closer shot).

Things were starting to get cramped up under the hps so I built a couple of simple cfl reflectors to add 276w and 18,000 lumens to my grow area. I only have one hung up right now the other one will go up when I mount the hid ballast on the wall. Took me all of an hour to do this.
Here's lady #3. She's really starting to yellow up on the lower branches. It's day 28 of flower. Is it normal to be this yellow this early?

is the dresser only 2 and a half feet tall? Regardless of light, you will need more height than that. More than likely though, yes, the t5s will work as supplement to the hps. What watt hps do you have? start a journal or post this thread as it's own and we can get in to more detail there. I'd be happy to help you however I can.

Good idea man. The more I play with it the better I seem to be getting at understanding how to control the plant, but a book all about plant bending sounds like a good idea. What is the name of your book, I'm going to look for it as a pdf. Thanks for the tip. One question though, is there any issue with the wire getting too hot on the plant?

So I'm reading about bonsai online now, and it is kind of like what I was trying to do to my first plants early on. But as they got bigger it was getting trickier and the bread ties weren't as ideal as I thought they would be for coiling the plant. I ended up completely abandoning that approach, and three out of four of those plants ended up males. I will find something longer and stronger, but still very malleable for my next attempt. Unless of course I do a scrog, which is looking very likely to me at this point. Thinking four individual screens for four plants in 3 gal smart pots. Nirvana Pure Power Plant. But we'll see, I never stick to anything.

Fuck I forgot to mention what I found in my room today. I was rotating my plants and somehow I noticed this tiny little hair trying to grow out Of a node in what I've been referring to as plant 1. It is itty bitty and I could barely see it, even when I got out my magnifying glass. I didn't even bother to try to get a pic, but in the next few days I should be able to get a decent pic. I then noticed small sacs forming on Plant four. And I think I saw sacs on plant two also, but it will be easier to say in a day or two. I think I'll keep a male around for some pollen because I really like the growth I've seen from lady three.

Plant 1 is definitely female, and plant 4 is definitely male. Plant 2 I can't really make up my mind on. The flowers are still less than a millimeter in size and I don't have the greatest eyes. After five minutes of straining to see it I decided it would be much easier to give it a couple of days and look again when everything is big and easily visible. Hoping for three females and one strong healthy male.
