Hi Guys, (i know--wrong forum but i didnt have access to the security forum)
I was talking to a few helicopter police and got some very interesting info. I had heard that cops could spot individual plants from the air using thermal optics. The cops here have them and use them.
I had also read that the way to disguise your plants outdoors would be to spread them out and surround with other palnts like tomatos or whatever or place them in a field or forest.
However, the cops said that they can spot individual plants in a field with no problem becasue of the soil. When a grower digs a big hole, adds his nice soil and fertilizer and generally makes it more habitable to doobage, he changes the heat pattern when viewed by infrared. Disturbed nicely tilled soil shows up much differently than the surrounding farmland, brush field, etc.. I think they said it shows up cooler because usually the grower has also cleared grass/brush/weeds so his soil/plant get more water thereby cooler soil. They dont really see the plant at all they only are looking at the soil. For example a field with 3 or four plants scattered through it shows up because the camera shows 3 circles of cool dirt in the field or really dirt that isnt the same temp as the surrounding dirt.
This makes me think that garden growing is fine because all the dirt is the same temp. But thats just me thinking. The cops didnt say that.
Anyway, feel free to refute this. Im just passing along what I heard from the horses mouth. These guys were not suspicious of me and had no reason to lie or give mis-information.
