I like that the 120s are tapped for 4 chip holders. Between that and constant voltage drivers there is a lot of room for upgrading. It's nice to know this stuff isn't going to be obsolete for a while as quickly as the technology is improving.

thats part of the reason im moving toward the 28mm cob as the standard. there are at least a half a dozen manufacturers using this size and most have multiple models in that package size (citi 1212/1812/1818, luminus clm22/cxm 22, getian, seoul, edison, LG, etc)

and thats just one holder. numerous other chips take the same 35mm spacing using a different holder (cxb3070 citi clu038, etc comes to mind)

same with 38mm - citi clu058, luminus cxm32, getian all use same holders

Ok so using 4 3500k Citi 1818s with the meanwell hlg 185 driver woukd that be a too much for a 2x2 tent?

youd prob dim a bit. it would work if you gave yourself extra distance to canopy. (which would grow a nice deep canopy)

FWIW, I ran 4x B3590 (3k) on a 185-1400b driver in a 2x2x3', no optics. Active cooled, and as close to the ceiling as possible.

I ended up running it dimmed down quite a bit, in the 100w range. I think 700 or 1050ma would have been fine for my situation. 4 efficient COBs is a lot of light in a 2x2 when run above 1 amp. If you're force feeding and using CO2, you can probably run them hotter than me. But, I did have my best plant and harvest to date with this ~100w 4x 3590 setup.

YMMV.

that sounds about right. 25W/SF with cobs run uber-efficient like that. i think thats a good rule of thumb

25-30W/SF if cobs run very soft
30-35W/SF if cobs run very hot

What type of heatsink were you using?
