iPhone Help

Please, for the love of God,....

My wife still has her 3G in excellent condition. The battery was finally dying and I found a website with pictures and easy to follow instructions for replacing the battery. YEAH, RIGHT! "remove these 7 screws", "unplug ribbons 1-4", "remove motherboard", "pry up battery"....... MY ASS! The battery was superglued in there. Who put this thing together!??!?!?!?!? I got it apart just fine, but reassembly looks nearly impossible. I would have needed the Hubble telescope to see how to reconnect all of those microscopic ribbons. I took it to a shop, wrapped up in a washrag. The guy was cool. He laughed and said he'd seen worse.

He put it back together, but now the Home button doesn't work. Me, him, who knows. He said there is a home button app that puts one on the touch screen. 3 hrs of searching and I still cannot find one. Also, the network doesn't see the sim card I put back in it.

SO, she is furious at me for the debacle. I "backed up" the phone in itunes but I want to know where it is backed up. Is it somewhere I can look at it? How can I get the pictures off of it before I throw it in the fireplace? Thanks!!

Hmm. On my Galaxy SII, I just pop off the back with my fingers and...

Oh wait, this isn't an iPhone vs Android thread - never mind. :)

I just had to recover photos from my wife's 4 but I imagine Apple puts them in the same place.

\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

If you do some rooting around you'll find them. You'll have to add a .jpg extension to the filename once you do find them because Apple deletes it for some reason. Also it might look like you have no folder called Appdata but it's probably hidden.

Thanks Neo. Cannot find the file "appdata". My cpu is running windows7. My iphone is 3g and does not have the assistive touch. Also, it will not find the network from the sim card now. POOP! Looks like I'm buying a new unlocked phone now. THAT is no easy trick either. I cannot find any locally. Have to order one online.

Yeah Appdata is a folder. I had trouble finding it also, for some reason. Try doing a search for it. It's there.

Next time just pay someone to do it from the start. Techy things usually seem simple enough to fix, but is usually not the case. Especially with the iphones. IMO

Persnally I love Iphones and I have a iphone 4, but I agree with others that generally, adroide is the way to go. Apple has too many restrictions....
pardon the spelling errors.

Don't buy or use phones, they are a waste of time and money and they are monitoring & tracking devices and they enslave you with monthly debt and they are addictive and give off radiation and might give you tumors.
If someone cared about you or wanted to talk to you they would be there and you could talk to them in person, if you want to talk to someone walk up to them and talk, if they aren't there don't bother with them they obviously don't want to talk to you that bad, if they do they will come over and say hi.

I tried that for a while Beardo, but it was costing a fortune in shoes and I kept losing my voice trying to talk to my mom in another state.

We don't do the data plan/rape thing with the large carriers. After giving those bastards nearly $250/mo ($3,000 yr) for our plans, we realized we didn't need them that bad. The iphone is cool because it still gets wifi for free, and being a girl, she's fascinated with small shiny objects. We have 4 phone lines with an off carrier who uses the cell towers of EVERYONE so we always have the best coverage, no contract, for $25/mo. I'll get her another touch screen phone for her to play with, but no contracts; EVER again.

Swear to God, it's not on my computer! I am using the search programs and files...

On win 7 it's (if C: = your install drive for windows) C:\Users\Username\AppData

You have to unhide hidden files and folders.

In win 7 that's start button -> control panel -> view by "small icons" -> "folder options" -> "view" tab -> click "show hidden files, folders, and drives" and uncheck "hide protected operating system files (recommended)".

If in xp, I think you can do start -> run -> %\appdata and it will take you to the folder.

go to walmart.. straight talk/metro either or, smartphone.. just turn off all your gps and wireless and shit and youre good to go unless you murdered someone they aint looking for you.. snartphones are great though, that thing will replace your ipod and camera,. and androids are awesome to play with, not much to do with the settings on an iphone

edit.. you can get her virtually any phone jailbroken
