So most people think that you have to buy the top notch equipment, bulbs and I do agree some are better then the others but brands like IPOWER are a really good brand for the price and most people don't know it even comes with a warranty, I believe it's 1 year on the Bulbs (requires no return shipment most of the time) and 2 years on the ballasts with a 60 day prepaid exchange(after 60 days you must pay for shipping TO them) now you must provide the serial number and send the old ballast back(you can fit the 1000 watt in the USPS flat rate shipping box) and once they get it you can normally get it in 2-3 days I've had a few bulbs(mainly one's that got damaged in the mail) and ballasts go bad and never had a problem, now they will want a receipt or proof of where you purchased it if they can't find the warranty info, but I'm just giving this information since a lot of people out there don't even know if they are covered by a warranty, most figure'd like me its cheap so nothing would be covered..

Enjoy!

I agree man, for the price, they make some top notch stuff. I have the Ipower 600w dimmable and it does a great job. I actually think I might add another 6 rather than just switching to the 1000 because of the shape of my room.

Many ballasts considered as lower end are nothing more then ballasts made in the same factory in china as Quantum ballasts.

The same parts are used and you get a "Quantum ballast" for cheap! I have heard that they swap out the sealed bearing fans for cheaper one's.....There was a ballast made in China and sold under an odd name by some shop out of the N.Y. area.....I've had that damn thing for 8 years and it just keeps running! Flip box ready too....lol, now that I said that - it's going to croak...

Something to note if your partial to Phantom ballasts. Guess what kiddies? They make those in the same factory too! So, if you see what looks like a knock off of the Phantom - it's a phantom with another name.....

I get Quantum's and Phantom's at "friend" prices lower then the ipower's so I go brand name to "be sure"...

I always keep 2 extra ballasts on hand.....

As far as bulbs go......Plantmax by the case for less then 25.00 a bulb.....Go ahead and pay your boocoo bucks for the EYE Horts or what ever name brand you think does better. In the long run the difference is far outweighed by the price! Hell the new 1k dual arc EYE bulbs are over $150 and closer to $160 - anywhere! Plantmax makes the same 600 HPSx400MH dual arc 1k for less the $50!

Now which one are you going to try first? Think the $160 is going to buy you better results? Your only getting a name....

^ I change out my bulbs every run anyways and give the old ones to friends, I agree with spending $25 versus $95 on a bulb for sure.

Bro I am running these 20$ cheapo bulbs in a side by side with a hortilux, really not much of a difference at all. Got them from www.hydrobuilder.com , 20$ for a 600w HPS bulb, 26$ for a 600w MH, I stocked up.

As for the quantum ballasts, I had one, it broke after 2 months of use. I use a galaxy grow amp now, works good and hasn't died yet.

I had one go at 3 years - 5 year warranty - new one free! Keep your receipt's
Say, was that an Orange one or the new silver ones?

I have the other side of the bloom area on galaxies and I really like them! I can't get the fantastic price break on them though..

When Quantum was changing over ownership they had some quality issue's to be sure! Now they seem to be back to normal - at least the new 6 I have are running fine......I just can't beat the price I pay with a stick so.......

Bulb's.....your right on that one! Just but the budget Plantmax or whatever you get cheapest. When I got interested, I found the comparison was like no real difference in performance ......

The moral of the story is that people will always pay big money if they think it will increase their yield. Just do your research, read reviews on different sites and go on forums and you can do just as well for half if not a quarter of the cost. It just may take a little more sweat equity or a little more love, but that's where the fun is anyway

Can't remember what color it was but they refunded it with no questions asked so I was cool with that.

How often do your ipower ballasts go out?

I also use apollo products but am biased
I run a pair of ipower 600's, have for a good 4-5yrs now, one died after about 10months, a 2nd one died after 2yrs.... no failures since, they are perma-flower room 12/12 every day...

(my old ass 1k mag ballast aint NEVER died! lol)

iPower has impressed me, there have been a few failures, but they were spot on with getting them replaced, and the price is great... (Both my apollo 400's died within 2yrs, i scrapped 'em)

I also rock iPower bulbs.... cuz I am too cheap for Ushio or Horti's....
