irish newbi in need of help

hi ppl new to the growing malarky just want some help hope am postin in the rite bit.
my grow room is roughly 2m sq

just got the floor down in my loft bit lost as to what to do for the sides and door of the grow room.

i will be using mylar eventually but wanted to know if i would need to use a ply wood or would cardboard do the job to make the walls.

what fans r best i know i need an extraction fan but do i need an intake fan too,

Irihsman, are you planning to build a temp room or a standalone box? In either case you could use either plywood or cardboard, I would stay away from the cardboard. Do you have access to pandafilm? Branchingout hydro has it, you can make a wood frame and attach the black and white Panda to the wood frame. What fans you need really depends on the light that you use and the conditions in you place. What light and what are the temps like in you place? How many plants in the room?

hi douglas, its gona be a temp room. aint got a clue what panda film is take it its to cover the plywood, would it be cheaper than mylar

i intend to use 600w hps with 5 plants just for my first grow will probably take it up to 10 next time 10 would be the maximum

would say its very warm in summer and the opposite in winter probably due to it bein timber frame, dont know what the temps are exactly yet

plus can u recommend good companys to get my seeds from, good as in discreet not necissarly the cheapest

Panda film is poly sheeting that is black on one side and white on the other. It's pretty thick so you can staple it to the wood frame and let it be the walls, it about 5 euro per meter. I suspect that you will need 2 fans with a 600W light, that's going to run you about 150 per fan, not cheap. Nirvana and Attitude are both good and discreet, I wouldn't go with expensive seeds for your first effort. Get something started and the system running, find out where the problems are and fix them before you get into the expensive beans. Soil or hydro?

i was gona go with the low rider #2 due to the height restrictions i have, i've been told these would be best for my first time. price of the fan freaks me out a bit lol i've been pricin online and seen the prices, do u know any good sites for second hand stuff like that am a bit strapped and want to try to cut corners on as much without messin up my grow.

hopefully then after the grow i'll have a few extra reddies to better the set up.

your the second person to give me the attitude site never heard of nirvana gona go check that out now

take it u've got a grow goin when i get on my feet a bit with it what would u recommend for a nice smoke

and i'll be usin soil for this grow was gona mybe splash out on a hydro system in a while, what would u recommend aero, hydro, or just stick to soil ?

If you want autoflowers I don't think that Nirvana is the place to look, I am on my 3rd attempt at Nirvana shortryder and they are neither dwarf nor autoflower. Their Bubblicious is very nice and pretty easy to grow but, LR2 is a great place to start. Check out hempy buckets or DWC if you want to experiment with hydro. As far as the fans go, it will be hard to ass it together with a 600W lamp in box that size, if there is not a lot of air moving you are going to run into heat issues. Build the box, put the lamp in there and turn it on for a few hours. See what happens to the temps, if you go over 28-29C, you have a problem. Let me know how the test goes if you give it a try.

hi again . sorry i aint got bak to u i been flat out in my attic lol , got it finished eventuallythank god, light in, fan in, walls sorted happy days. i got 10 lowryder#2 seeds from attitude seed bank so am ready to get them in. how would u suggest startin them ive seen so many dif ways what would u suggest?

been running the room for bout 3 hours now and its not gona be a problem with the temp as far as i can see, tho its not just the warmest outside today but i'll keep an eye on it for a few more hrs.

i have put in vents at the top, well just pieces that can be easily removed if need be.

i take it the humidity will increase when i get the soil and that into the room

and one more point is CO2 necessary as in adding it to the rooms environment

if you are testing your room you need to run a full 18/6 cycle checking min/max levels and also a 12/12 cycle checking min/max levels. You should not open the room at all during testing to get your worst case levels.

TESTING NOW IS BEST BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY PLANTS GROWING


it is not easy to alter a live grow room.

box has been runnin 24 hrs now and the max temp was 29.5 and the min was 15

37% to 70% humidity but i guess this will change when plants r added

i have no fan at present in the box circulating the air surely this will keep the temp down when its running

whats the best way to start my seeds, ive done it b4 with one i grew just in my flat but it was completly against all the ways ive read on these sites, i managed to grow it to bout 3 ft tall and had to go on hols and left it with my m8, needless to say i got a text in 2 days to say it was dead. but it still grew amazingly i started it in the arse of of pop bottle in soil with a 100w bulb on it 24/7 which is what i read the complete rong way to do it lol.

The oscilating fan in the room only circulates are it does not cool it!

The best way i find to germinate seeds is as follows.

1 pre soak your seed for around 6hours.
2 prepare your chosen medium
3 plant the seed into the medium roughly 1/16 inch down and gently brush some medium over it
4 water it in
5 place a little humidity dome on top
6 place under a small Blue Spectrum CFL
7 wait

Usually takes around 2-3 days to have the breakthrough of the medium

thanks jon am on it now ive seen this method mentioned alot think it will cut the stress down. as for this temp what am i gona do i take it thats to big of a dif in temps for the plants, and its 25C roughly i need to keep the seeds when germinating isnt it

If you are growing in a loft then the sides of the loft are normaly at the same angle has the roof just mylar the corner that you are wanting to use has the angle of the roof will act has a hood but i would use ply wood or even better plaster board but leave the front section off this will help in summer when lofts can be a nightmare with high temps.get a ossalateing fan and you should be fine the only way that i would put a door on is if you are wanting to grow realy large ammounts.Afew plants will be fine in the method i have put above.

If you are in fact living in the Emerald Isles I would suggest PlanetSkunk as they are in Ireland and you totally avoid any customs issues.

I have some feminised "Magic Bud" on order with them, been about 7 days so far but I paid by internet transfer which takes a couple of days and I also live in OZ, fingers crossed that they get through customs.

Other buyers in OZ have received seeds and were happy with the strains being what were claimed, their recommendations were what encouraged me to try PlanetSkunk.

They supply a physical address for mailing payments and bank account details for Australian buyers so I figured that they are legit.

It has been mentioned on these forums that emails sent to PlanetSkunk bounce back undelivered, this happened but the email got through and received a prompt reply.

They also reply to text messages, so they definitely have good communication channels.

rite wtf is goin on 4 seeds doin well, 2 not so good just very slow, 2 not shown any signs of openin at all and 2 that have grown pretty much like the good ones but the seed seems to be still round the leaf preventin them from openin out what is goin on this is day 4
