Just wondering, Im not really sure how to soundproof it, i guess just acoustic panel and acoustic calk huh?

Im gonna make the cabinet about 8ft tall by 6ft wide or so. I just need it to be sound proof. So if anyone has experience in that area lemme know what I should do hehehe.

Your money may be better spent on a quieter fan. Can you move the fan somewhere else (if you happen to have a strong fan and lots of ductwork). Also, you can cover up the noise with something else, like one of those small tabletop fountains, or setting a noisy computer next to it. I've never priced acoustic panel, but assuming you're referring to something like acoustic ceiling tiles, 100 should definitely cover it. Hope this helps.

Kinda, i dont know where I can get a quiet fan

i have 2 6 inch duct fans which will be coolin my 400 hps. They are around 45-50 db each, then im gonna need one to exhaust my room, any recommendations?

Build sound box for your fan, i think the problem you are going to have to worry about more is the sound of the airflow coming out of your cabinet. That was my big problem until i routed the venting in with my home ventilation system.

How large is the room? One thing I know is great it Dynamat, they sell it for cars. Of course you can buy a much cheaper imitation product. You just peel off the wrapping and put it on the walls. It completely drowns out all sound. It's ideal for a cabinet grow etc.

Yeah thats expensive as hell. Its gonna be like 8ft tall by 6 wide by 3-4ft deep

Do you think like styrafoam or just insulation foam for between walls would work, just glue or screw it to the inside?

Im gonna probably Co2 supplument too cause it was like 75-85 in my grow box last time in the summer that way the plants like it ok.

Hmmm, I don't think the styrofoam or insulation will work well for sound proofing. Both are great at keeping your air flow cut off, which isn't bad either... but it probably won't do what you want it to.

What you can get though are these big cans full of expanding foam. Some of them are made to drown out sound as well, keep an eye out for that stuff. You can find it in any hardware store, but you want to make sure you get the right one because they aren't all the same. Look for something that is water resistant and get some rubber gloves so you don't get any on your hands. If you can't spray it on directly you can spray a bit on your gloves then wipe it directly on to the inside walls and corners. It will help, but where you have an inlet and outlet for your air circulation, it will not keep the sound of the fan down.

Yeah was afraid of that im hoping that the fans not being so close to the wall to next door will help enough that you cant hear em. My aunt lives up there and she gets up at like 7 am and goes to bed at like 6-7 pm needs to move teh fck out =P I think since im getting a new exhaust fan a 450 cfm inline. Ill have a filter on it this time too and my 2 inline duct fans will be on the light keepin it cool. Oh well, i hope i dont waste 100+ bucks on a room i cant use lulz

Dude... Egg shell bed foam. Line the walls with it and it catches all sound... It literally comes out of your mouth heavy the first time you speak- its weird. Cheap and effective. The stuff you'd have under your sheets to sleep better, who'd have known I'd blow more money on it growing. But I have.

And as a protective measure after i line the walls with the eggshell bed foam i cover it with 2" thick pink panter home insulation foam board. It is super thick- works great to make a room from (isnt brittle) and mylar sticks to it great.

But the price for those things rack up quick, at least the 2" foam boards do.
The bed foam is a cheap guarentee though.

The newer patterns for bed foam aren't so eggshelly- and the eggshell stuff is the best- not sure where you can still find it. I recently settled for the newagey stuff- it works nearly as well. and still works.

Sorry for this being an older thread, But I have to inquire about this egg-shell foam since it seems like the kind of material I am looking for to get my cab up and rolling. Can you be more exact as to what this foam is called? Is this like a foam mattress pad or something like that?
