i live in a 1 bedroom apartment (uk), and was wondering if a 600 hps would trigger alarm bells or raise a red flag at the power company.

total power consumption for the grow in total would be 800 watts.

can someone out there eleviate my fears, thanks in advance and would be interested in hearing what other people are running if in similar sized accomodation????:peace:

Oh how many plants do you plan on growing cause 600 is major bra?

I was going to ask the same thing. I plan on only growing one plant at a time for personal use and only plan on using a 400 watt HPS. Will this keep my electric low?

A 600 watt HPS is not "major" and will not draw any attention. Running that light 12/12 will raise your electric bill maybe 15 quid a month at the most, probably more like 10. All depends on how much you pay for electricity.

What you DO have to worry about in a small apartment is the smell when your plants start flowering. A little MJ smell every now and then coming from your apartment means you smoke and no one will give a toss. But a constant smell 24 hours a day means you grow and will draw attention.

Id go for a 250w if your only growing 1 plant m8 , not much, but noticeable in electric.

Yeah m8 per bedroom,
you can run an EXTRA 1000w per room without raising suspicion.

Obviously they wont know if your using it all in a certain room ,you dont have to spread it out or anything , 'per bedroom' is used as a guide for wattage usuage.

Yea the smell will be a problem but I heard if you use carbon filters it will eliminate the smell. Especially if you scatter them around the house.

Don't worry about your power bill, you pay it right? Well you could have gotten a big screen TV, surround sound, or a jacuzzi in your living room. Trust me as long as you pay your bill nobody will notice.

well my electric bill prior to this grow is quite low, all cfls, washing machine on cold wash, not filling the kettle all the way or as needed, i turn the freezer of for 12 hours of the day and keep my fridge full (apperently if the fridge is full it reduces the area that needs to be cooled). what im trying to say is that i watch my carbon footprint but am worried about my dramatic power consumption that will be in effect in the next couple of weeks peace

Nope like I said you just bought a big screen TV power company can't report every guy that gets a new big screen right? If you want security spend your time controlling odor, light leaks, noise, heat, locks, not your power bill.
