If I was to put another 4 30w cfls in there would that be too much? Or is there even such a thing as too much light? I've only grown outdoors previously and to be fair the success me and a friend had was down to total luck and Mother Nature hherself, the total wattage I would have in my 4x2x4 is 330 actual watts or 1181w if ya read it by that, just like to say cheers for the help and direction lads, it's much appreciated.

you want around 5,000 lumens/sqft for veg and 10,000 lumens/sqft for flower. so my guess is you are around 21,000 to 27,000 lumens.
so if you are 8 sqft on the low side you are around 2700 lumens/sqft and the hi is 34 lumens/sqft. these are just guesses according to my bulbs.
use cardboard painted white or mylar to shrink up your room and will not lose light.

So am I really short on light?

It's hard to "over do it" on the lights using CFL's.
Don't be shy, if you can fit more around them it will reward you later.

Yes.
Split the can in half length wise, and cover the away side of the bulb so the light bounces off the inside of the can back towards the plant.
I took your advice and made a whole new light hold, il upload a pic once ipad is charged, the lights are now sideways and spread a lot better, thanks for the heads up fella, appreciate it.

View attachment 2551710Here's some bag seed 1 day from potting, 3 days old now and leaves are twice the size.
When you pot, if you raise the plant up to the top of the pot, the sides of the pot will not block some of your light, and also your plant will be able to use the WHOLE pot for roots when the time comes.;-)
If you do like you have it, see the room up top that could be used to grow into?
Your lights look a lot better!

If you didn't pack the soil real tight, I think you could just tip her over and dump out, then add more soil before putting back in.
