Is autoflower really faster indoors?

Lol, ok. I have more than enough experience to know it doesnt take me anywhere near 100 damn days to grow a fast photo strain start to finish with at least a few ounces on it whether its a seed or clone. I have a small plant right now, seed went into root riot 21 days ago. If i flipped it to 12/12 right now, it would be done at 80 to 85 days total from DRY SEED with 4oz on it and its not even a fast strain. All im saying is it sounds ridiculous to me that an auto takes 100 days minimum and if thats true, its WEEKS LONGER than a fast photo. What makes you think im processing numbers with no experience? It doesnt take a genius to estimate the time difference of a cutting vs seed when youve grown both.

Heres one 63 days seed to harvest. Looks like seed company claimed 8 weeks and he finished in 9. He talks about the faster autos second half of vid

mostley about the marketing bs about them. how theyre easier and faster than photos

if you dont know how to grow photos you will be lost in the dark with autos.
a 7 week auto will be a tiny bud hardley worth the effort.

Whatever dude, obviously you have no interest in having an intellectual conversation and all you care about is attacking my level of experience. The guy showed his other 2 autos in the same video from the same seed company and stated they took 11 weeks. Why would he just randomly lie about ONE of his strains? It makes no sense. I understand what it means to be a youtuber and if he was talking up a grow light that sponsers him, i would second guess it, but he has no reason to lie about his one 9 week strain. Just try thinking with common sense. Dont bother answering, your input is no longer needed

In my experience autos go about 9 weeks seed to harvest. Maybe 10. I haven't had any auto I've had that I needed to have go longer than 10. Some of these autos are done with growth but don't really undergo Trich degradation to amber. I'm assuming these guys waiting 100 plus days are waiting for trichs to amber. I harvest when they are all cloudy at 10 weeks they are always good

This sounds more reasonable to me. A bit longer than the company states for fast autos, but not friggin 100 days lol. Im sure there's some big auto strains that go well over 100, but i very much doubt its the normal and sure as hell not the minimum for autos.
The whole point of this thread was to ask if fast auto strains are capable of being faster than fast photo strains when grown indoors, not "what is the slowest auto you can grow?" Lol

I've grown a lot of autos and most of then have full weight by week 7-8. They mostly just need the few extra weeks to ripen up a bit. I've harvested strains like dinafem critical jack auto and Dutch master think different at 8 weeks when I first started growing them and they were smokeable and got you high but just heady like early weed is and you're definetly leaving potency on the table compared to 10 weeks. I made a feminized F1 of world of seeds dark devil/sweet skunk that has a pheno that will go 4ft tall and have 5-6z on it by week 8 from seed. I still personally think they arent near photo for quality from what I've seen. But if I'm feeling lazy and don't wanna run clones and mothers or I'm waiting for a mother plant to grow so I can take cuttings I'll throw down a few in just promix and lazy grow em. 8 in 3gal fabric pots with promix under a 4x4 will net over a p easy in 9-10 weeks. It's usually quality wise about what I'd consider good mids if it was photo. I give most of it away to buddies. Good blunt weed
 
I tried to read all the posts, I do know 24 hours a day light will finish faster (obviously). Alot of people dont run 24hrs for multiple of different reasons. It makes a mega difference in finishing time vs. 20/4, 18/6 or even 12/12. I'm finishing up an auto tomorrow planted 1/15/21 on 18/6 schedule very pleased with it so far. amber trichs the fade etc... Hoping to keep that fruity smell post chop (I've had issue with that)
As for difficulty level photo vs auto, I dont see it easier or harder they both have pros and cons. If a noob asked me what to start with I would say auto because the length of time for a photo that's all. The longer any cannabis is in the pot the more time you have to f*** it up ;)
 
there are a fair amount of reports saying they are faster in smaller containers. something about starting to flower when the roots hit the bottom or sides. I personally can not make a claim one way or the other but it kind of makes sense

That does actually make logical sense. Plants seem to be space aware and respond accordingly. If it senses that its root system cannot expand further, it would probably put its energy into maturing rather than growing into a larger plant that the root system cant support. Im sure yeild suffers. Would be interesting to test a bunch side by side in different containers. Too bad you cant use clones though. With seeds it would be hard to know if different finishing times were due to container size or phenotype. Just need large sample i guess

running 24hrs doesnt make the plant finish faster. a day is a day is a day. 24hrs is a day.
the plant will.have more light hours to grow and get bigger. your weight will.be more. not faster finish.

I kinda wondered about that too. If anything, other way around. They are crossed with ruderalis to autoflower, but the photo genes are still in there. I would think less hours would still push it to flower faster, or start flowering sooner. Im surprised we don't have straight answers on this stuff. Its not hard to test. If i didnt have a plant count limit i would have all kinds of tents for studies just for fun.
 
OK so as a fairly new grower here's my take:

Autos definitely ARE quicker than photos in general. They develop flowers with more vigor and definitely quicker than a photo of the same age. More specifically, a 3 or 4 wk old auto will flower with the same vigor as a photo that's more than 4 months old.

A "77 day auto" i can assure you is gonna be more like 90 days, but IMO that's still outstanding.

Yields: Setting aside the obvious fact that you can veg a photo for longer for more yield, autos will always yield more/better in that shorter time.


A point to consider: i was growing autos in a 2x2 while my 4x4 finished flowering. ...well, the 2x2 kicked into flower too soon, and i had to empty the 4x4 a lil sooner than i wanted. Not a huge deal, but if i had waited any longer, it could have really messed up all the tops.
 
My auto just went over wk 14. Looks like at least another week I'm guessing. Easy to overfeed, 400ppm burned it.
All I have are auto seeds, so I'm going to use them, but I think I will go with photo plants for my next purchase.

I'm in the same boat. I have a good bit of Mephisto seeds (like 50) so Im not gonna waste them. I think I will just grow a couple autos in one tent while I veg the photos then move them to another to flower.
