My tap water has a ph of 8.3 so i went and bought some spring water. I know your not supposed to use distilled water. what about water that has went through micron filtration? is that the same thing or what?

you can use any water as long as its ph of 6.0 to 6.4

i use bottled water and always have done! its better than tap water as it doesnt have the clorhine

you can use both as far as I'm concerned, I use rainwater, not as pure as distilled but damn near.

i collected a bunch of rain water and it had a ph of like 9+
so your tap waters 8.3 and rainwater is over 9, I'd say your ph tester is fucked, just a guess LOL
what's your bottled water testing at or the distilled for that matter

Chlorine one of the 16 elements required by plants

Distilled is fine I think, but you may have to add some things down the road

most folks are unaware that the amount of Cal in your feeding needs to be equal to the sodium in your water

I was using tap through a PUR filter. Got calcium lockout because our water is so damn hard. If you used distilled you will be probably fine if you add a little calmag and nutes when the plants ask for it.

Is melted snow similar to rain water in chemical composition, or does the temperature of snow cause differences? I am thinking of using some snow.

pretty much the same but it can get more airborne pollutants accumulate in it .
I wouldn't recommend it if your in an industrial area.

my tap water runs about the same ph as this and i don't have any problems using it straight from the tap, the ppm runs anywhere from 280 to 350. with my hydro setup i keep the water adjusted from 6.2 to 5.4. the plants that i have growing in miracle gro potting soil mix get what ever comes out of the tap. all my plant are doing great and never shows any signs in defencies or being over fed. you might want to simple it up a bit, your plants and wallet will thank you for it.
