Is bud size determined in Veg Stage Only

Been reading and hearing that bud size is only determined in vegg and not the flower period ???

12/12 from seed. Small buds.
6 months of veg. You got a beast.

Once you flip to 12/12 the buds are going to be proportional to the plant size.

Not exactly. A plant that has vegged for 6 months is definitely going to produce more total quantity....But the nug sizes will be about the same as a plant that has vegged for a month or 2...Difference is in number colas growing (more the longer you veg).

Nug sized is more determined by genetics, and how well you treat her. The healthier the environement, the bigger and better the nugs. Genetics determine how long a plant will be in flowering (could be 8 weeks, could be 15).

The breeder will give you the yield for meter square, or feet. I was being general.
Genetics will give you different bud size. So will topping, fimming, sog, scrog.
An unmolested single cola plant will grow a bigger bud than one topped.
I guess I should have said yield is proportional to veg time.

Spot on. The only thing I would add is that the longer you veg the more likely you will get rootbound and that your soil will be depleted

Last grow (barney's 8 ball kush fem) I had my 250 hps on for 24 days (last 6 days of veg and first 18 days of flower) and 175 hps after that, because I have limited space... This grow Im going to be able to keep the 250 hps from day 3 of flower to end of harvest period bc plant is VERY short (barney's lsd fem)...

there is nothing wrong with using that sized light. Understand that light looses its strength exponentially with distance.

this chart shows light power at inches away from the bulb. You want to stay in the white, the higher the better.

So in small situations, you want to look at LST, Topping, Lollipopping, and or scrog...Not saying do all of them, but use one or a couple of these methods to to control plant height and keep more buds in the optimum light zones
