it's politics, i can say whatever i want. :eyesmoke:

and i asked if you were dumb, just like i asked if you were fat. sounds like a yes on both.

never said i was anti-gay. you can be as gay as you want, just be honest about it.
Are you against homosexual marriage FDD, or homosexual sex?

If it's marriage, why should heterosexual couples be allowed to marry with a 50% divorce rate and children that already could grow up homosexual even with the existence of two nurturing, caring parents, and homosexual couples should not be?

If it's sex, do you believe it's ok for two lesbian women to engage in consentual sex?

Myth: Marriage Is An Unchanging Institution
- There is a common belief that marriage has remained unchanged throughout history, but it has always adapted to the time and culture.
Examples
The founding couple in the Bible, Abraham and Sarah, were half-siblings and shared a father.
In Rome, only the upper-class were allowed to marry.
Christianity originally ignored marriage and did not recognize it until 1215.

The Idea of “Traditional Marriage”
- The idea of traditional marriage became popular in the mid-1800s.
Marriage was seen as an economic exchange.
People married within their own economic class. If your family had property, you found another person with property to marry. If you were working class, you found a partner whose skills matched yours (ex: farmer and farmwife).
At the engagement feast, the families finalized the marriage contract and the marriage ceremony was when property exchanged hands.
Marriage for love only occurred in the lowest class of society, where there was no exchange of property.
- Capitalism changed the purpose of marriage.
Making a living became about individual talents and decisions.
Marriage was no longer to be used solely for economic means.
The central purpose of marriage shifted to love instead of money.

I could post a 7 page paper here about why gay marriage actually strengthens marriage as an institution, but I won't put all y'all through that... But I do firmly believe in gay marriage and as a lesbian I will never accept a "marriage substitute" such as civil unions because I refuse to participate in a "separate but equal" law.

It is a states rights issue. If it is done on the state level there is nothing that should be done. Voters of each state should decide

this isn't supposed to be about marriage it's supposed to be about rights. according to the gays anyways. they want to have the same rights as married people. so first we need to decide what those rights are. so what are those rights? the right to visit you when you are sick and dying, the right to claim you on the tax form, ... that's all i got.

do you think gays feel guilty for being born gay?

Show me the right to be married anywhere in the constitution. It is the same with driving. There is no right.
that's another very valid point. wtf is with this "right to be married"? a right by what and who? i don't get it. :-?

i really think this is more about "acceptance" than anything. what "rights" are they not getting? you can buy and live in the same house. sleep in the same bed. present yourselves as a "couple". when do the "limits" begin? you getting turned down at restaurants or what?

If marriage is a religious institution, like CG and a few others on this thread have claimed, then the government doesn't have the authority to criminalize gay marriage, as that would be infringing on equal rights.

The Constitution is more about equal rights, for ALL. Of course it took some amendments later on to make sure everyone enjoys freedom, but hey, nothing is perfect.

OK, lets lock you out when your wife's on her deathbed, see how you feel..

That's kind of important man, you brush it off like it's no big deal, gays should just deal with not seeing thier loved one during their last moments...

It is about equality. It's about believing there is nothing WRONG with being gay, just like there is nothing RIGHT with being straight. It's about your mindset. Sure you can walk around and say you accept gay people, just not their choice of lifestyle.. but that's not acceptance, it's stifled biggotry, hidden hate, the complete opposite of what these people deserve. If you accept gay people, but not their ''lifestyle'', then you do not accept gay people. -same shit with that ''I hate the sin, not the sinner" bullshit the religious community tries to pull. (funny you hear a lot of religious nuts say the same shit about gay people and think it's acceptable eh...)

Howbout this, I hate everything about religion, I can't stand it, it makes me sick, anyone who believes in it is an idiot and is going to freeze in outerspace after they die for eternity!... oh but I love the people who believe in religion.. I just hate the religion..

If you think homosexual people, more specifically homosexual couples, and further even more specifically homosexual couples who wish to have children, are treated equal as it is today, you're living in a dream world. All it takes is one skim through this thread to find the biggotry and hate towards the gay community. (odd, all the people saying give them equal rights are the same ones who don't give a fuck about what a person does in their daily lives, the ones saying marriage is religious, or it's between a man and a woman, or.. ROFL, the Adam and Steve argument...omg... are the same ones who wish to CONTROL other peoples lives and CONTROL what someone else does in their private time... You guys would make GREAT cops!)

i can sign a paper that will give my GF the right to visit me as i lay dying. next.

there is bigotry and hate towards everyone by some group of people somewhere.

so it's simply about "acceptance". exactly as i thought. if you're gay do you really need marriage to prove it's ok?

once again, do gay people feel guilty for being born gay?

and please stop putting words into my posts. i will tell YOU how I feel. no need for you to judge or assume. :blsmoke: :peace:

Why not post you 7 page paper if you believe gay marriage is such an important issue?

That's the point, homosexual couples have no legal rights to eachother. They might as well be a stranger, legally speaking.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" - MLK

If I were gay, I would feel like my government, and even my fellow countrymen, are denying me equal rights as heterosexual people, simply because I am gay, I was born that way, and there is nothing I can do to change it.

If gay people feel any kind of guilt for being gay, I'd imagine it would be because of circumstances where their father was ashamed of them, or their community looked down on them, stuff like that. Not for actually being homosexual, as there is nothing you can do about it, it's just the way you are born, just like if you're white, that's the way you were born.. I don't understand why people can't grasp that.

I didn't mean to put words into your mouth, sorry man. :peace:
