Anyone else noticing all these young marriages? Maybe it's just in my part of the dump but damn, 18 year olds to 20 years olds?! Left and right I'm seeing married statuses and wedding photos, that or "plans" for engagement.

I swear if I see another young ass wedding photo my stomach is going to tear from the laughter

All this and I just read an article recently about how now is record high for percentage of divorces. Think I found out why, all these dumb ass kids are getting wedded! :wall:

Thank god I listened to Leykis when I was 17-19. Saved my damn life!

I don't understand why anyone would want to marry aside from having a child with someone and wanting financial security or for a tax break. You can get a decent tax break (maybe equal) by claiming someone as a dependent.

I've been married for 22 years have 5 kids and 2 grandkids.
I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Wait until the legal limbo over Gay marriage is over...... you think you are hearing far off wedding bells now, just wait.... there is a portion of the population that has been denied that very right for centuries....

There is absolutely nothing that you can do while married that you can't do single... even then, I don't understand the idea behind it? Sure you love someone and want to spend the rest of your life with them... COOL, so do that! Why do you need the government's involvement and to pay people and sign a paper that says you want to spend your life with someone.

Sure some people say because you get benefits and shit... but that's illegal to get married under those reasons. Getting married just because you have children? That's a divorce. All these things just bash the whole marriage idea by themselves.

But damn, seeing these little fucking girls who look like they just got out of middle school in a wedding dress, is the funniest thing I ever seen in my life.

Many of your parents were married or engaged to be when they graduated high school.... At least today they wait until college or mid 20's... you guys are just getting older and they look younger.

not that i plan on getting married, but for me the "point" of all the government involvement is to hold each other legally accountable. they legally join their assets making them more financially stable. if the husband develops a drug or gambling problem and they go broke because of it, the wife can get a lawyer to "minimize her damages" during the divorce. it's basically a legal or financial saftey net for if something goes wrong and to make sure both parties are held personally responsible. or to decide who gets to be on the dental plan. shit like that. but on the topic of young marriages, it's just one more reason to point and laugh at some of these hopelessly dillusional youths. mtv and the internet have filled their heads with even more false hopes and ideas than tv did to my generation. poor stupid fucks.

my wife and i have been married for 25 years and i wouldn't trade that for anything. my 2 youngest children on the other hand........ both got married in may of 2009 and both were divorced by the feburary of 2010. my son was 20 and his wife was 21, he is in the usmc and got deployed. his wife was moved in with another hard dick before he even landed in iraq. my daughter was 23 and her husband was 25.... my son in law had stupid ideas about slowing down on the partying and putting their college education to work. my daughter is still waiting tables, living at home and partying non stop with a 4 year degree. marriage is for some but not everyone.

getting married in todays society is just stupid. getting married is an old school "moral" term that people need to let go of. What's funny is how many people get hitched, then divorce 3 months later. be together, love each other, and thats all you need..

Well we are experiencing a time of war. When there is a big uprising of military #s the is a big rise in marriage because when your married you get paid way more, better benifits and you don't have to live on base anymore. Many of the young marriages are military people. I married before I deployed and am celebrating 5 yrs in April.

I think a lot of women push for marriage because they want financial security. If they marry a man and are together, half his assets are hers. A lot of women marry, pop out a kid and end up getting supported financially, especially if you choose the right man - no one wants to work hard, right? if I were a guy, I definitely wouldn't marry unless I was 100% sure this was the woman for me. That means living together for a substantial amount of time before even proposing. You drop 10k on a ring and most of the time she walks with it. It was a gift afterall. ;)

I also think there is a problem with the men these days. They are not manly, they are a bunch of little bitches. That makes the above plan difficult because men these days want to rely on women. They want to be supported. Makes marrying pointless for women LOL. Nice how I see everything as financial proposition but I am talking about a lot of the stupid young folks.. I have been in a relationship for a LONG time with a person I love but we aren't married.
