Is Greenhouse Seeds the Nickelback of Breeders?

I sense that a lot of people on this site do not like GHS and I’ve yet to discover why. Do they have a poor germination record? Are their genetics crap?

I started reading HIGH TIMES about 15 years ago and I always thought their plants looked dope in the advertisements they had n the magazine. I followed the Cannabis Cup coverage in the magazine and GHS seemed to win a lot. One can conclude that if they win a lot then they must have good genetics.

Is GHS trash or does everyone enjoy trashing on them because of their success?

i wish they would put more resource into there work with all these landrace seeds they have and stabilize them or work with them only to find new elite out of those genetics and not something crosses with a cookie or whatever.

My issue with them is the lack of morals or regs ive grew/smoked plenty from them over the years with good results for the most part minus kalishnakova thats a hack of shit but otherwise been decent problem with ghs there big there in it for the money and they pollute anywhere they go collecting seeds to ensure they the only ones with those lines pure they never release them pure only use em to make hybrids to make more $$ imo thats evil shit anyone who loves cannabis and respects it would never do this

The fact that he has claimed himself as the king of cannabis has surly rubbed many people the wrong way. I've never grown any of his gear because fellow growers have told me almost all of the strains they picked up hermed. If it was just one person id take it with a grain of salt but after 3-4 I just kept my distance

I've done their Chemdog multiple times,Super Critical also is decent,I'd say it's mostly because "Euro" breeders seem frozen in time as compared to the US who have been banging out new strains like shit thru a goose.
Its good but its not legit 91 chemdog it comes from apothecary genetics originally and they burned em with a few dodgy genetics they sold em yeah the chem i tried via ghs had a kinda anti freeze thing with some fruit at the back end taste n smell wise it was ok whatever it is i just know its not legit proper chemdog

No argument here,I never stated it was a original chem,I grew it the 1st time when seed availlability was limited,I got my 1st. GH cdog from Van. Seed Bank back in 2008,no US seedbanks existed then, certainly not Top Dawg, it's genetics are senseless anyway OG Kush/Sour Diesel, really Cdog is a parent of Sour Diesel, that said it produces decent "fuelly" bud.

I didn't know that this is how they conduct business. Ensuring that no other breeders get any of the rare landrace strains that they find is pure greed. Thanks for the info.

GreenHouse is most definitely the Ghetto...the low rent...hoop d...the trailer park of seed selling...there are others but they definitely fit that category....despite the fact they went around the world destroying land race genetics by swapping them out with their dutch shit

They dont come out and say it but literally any place they did an episode of strain hunters they leave seeds there shit u can see in there malana one farmers growing there the church etc and in south africa them dumping out cheese means locals dont grow there own varieties so much and they also get polluted they aint stupid they know what there doing if they made the mistake once it be different but its time and time again

Most of those places they went landraces had already been polluted for years. I think they showed were they turned up to afew fields and there was all little skunk and widow plants. Mind you they are under the huge canopy corp banner so anything could happen now and probably has. My opinion ghs,'s problem is they will release a strain, make seeds and sell you them. But years later when it comes to making those seeds again they will use different parents and sell you the seeds as if the exact same and will never admit the genetic changes. They seem to have a big issue with keeping parent clones and seed consistency longterm. Alot of there strains are completely different genetics to what they once were. Even something like slh wich wasnt too long ago they couldn't maintain. Its kind of like dont look at the strain name when buying seeds, what you get is what you get.

I know that Monsanto has done things like this with their genetically modified corn. There are countries that have outlawed their GMO seeds and rightly so. Monsanto will pay people to spread their GMO seeds in these countries to destroy the natural corn population. When their mutant corn breeds with normal corn it produces mutant corn. Thus once the natural population is mostly unusable mutant corn then they will have to to buy their GMO corn seeds.

Free market capitalism. Gotta love it....

You would be suprised how many of those seed companys joined a big mosanto like company. There a lots of them that fly under canopy corp

It's inevitably going to happen with weed strains. With US legalization imminent at some point. That will open the door for companies to genetically modify their seeds and thus making them eligible for patent protection. I hope it doesn't happen but whenever money is involved it brings out the worst in people.

Its already been happening. Some organizations have even patented strains that obviously dont belong to them like ogkush. And they will give you the legal patented clones they claim are original under licence if you want to produce them. The legal industry is worse than blackmarket I reckon.
Even landrace names are getting patented. Panama red is already patented as are others.

I thought landraces and heirlooms were exempt from patents as there the property of the people not an individual or has the rules changed?
