Is homosexuality genetic?

Is homosexuality genetic? and if so, why don't they all die out due to failing to pass on their genes.

Or is being a poofta just a fad?

I have complete respect for homosexuals myself. It's no concern of mine if two guys or girls want to get together, more power to them.
I have contemplated the question presented here though. one example i think of is a guy who i was friends with who lived a few houses down who's dad was in prison from the time the guy was 2-16 so his main influences were all girls who is gay now. i wonder if his dad had been found not guilty of his manslaughter charges if he would of still ended up gay. Some gays ive talked to about it have said they feel they were born that way.

Homosexuality occurs naturally in a plethora of species all over the world....why should Homo Sapiens be immune from this? Because the Bible says so?

Probably not....Maybe some people are so into the feeling of sexual encounters, and chicks they meet might not do the crazy shit that gay people might,
or vice versa, so they seek out people to do said crazy shit..?????

For anyone that thinks it's just a fad, did you know that many species of animals engage in homosexual behaviour? Mallard ducks are well known for having gay couples, and last I checked ducks are not into fads.

My cousin is gay. He's been gay since I have known him. He was never abused and my aunt and uncle treated him no different than his brother and sister. So why is HE gay? Because it's genetic. You are either born gay or you're not. I don't even see how anyone could NOT come to that conclusion.

My cousin did the same stuff as me growing up. We all went out as family to basketball games and shit like that. He is a guys guy. Only difference is he dates men. How can you say it's not genetic? He was never abused or treated bad in school, so there was no environmental influence. As a matter of fact, you wouldn't even know he was unless he told you. He's a real cool dude.

He even told my aunt that he liked boys when he was a boy himself. Just always did as far back as he could remember. You're born gay is what I take from that.

there is NOTHING WRONG with that behaviour... the only thing that is "different" with it is... that homosexual behaviour doesnt produce offspring between a man and a woman in a "religious" and "matrimonial" partnership and in that direct context...

but that doesnt mean that their genetics cannot be passed on, because there are homosexuals who do have children... male AND female alike...

AND there is NOTHING WRONG with if two men want to adopt and raise a child EITHER... look at all of the poor children out there that have NO FAMILY and are alone and have no one to show them love and care for them and are stuck in an orphanage with no hope...

But thankfully there are GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE regardless of "sexual and genetic predispositional preferences" who DO adopt these children and GIVE THEM THE SAME LOVE AND CARE that a "typical" male/female parent home could give...

and p.s. you might learn something by taking a trip to the NHMRC in Canberra... I'm sure they'll answer it perfectly for ya...

and another p.s. if you'd just do some simple research... you'd be able to stop them roos from bouncin wildly around in ya top paddock there mate...

Well the reason gays don't die out, is because you know how you might try something and then decide you don't like it...but maybe when you get older you try it again just to see if your tastes have changed...? That is all it takes...a willingness to try something...trying makes babies...my dad was gay and married 3 times... the best way to reduce the number of homosexuals if it is genetic, is just what we are doing now...allowing people to be themselves. A gay man doesn't have to marry a woman and have kids and all that jazz to seem normal as much these days...they have more freedom and backing to be with a guy of their choosing to get their stylishly decorated house together and die happy and old having adopted some children that needed the love they had to give...So if homosexuality is genetic, then the numbers should start dropping off soon...as long as we push to act like it is no big deal..because honestly I don't care who you sleep with, as long as you aren't a creepy predator driving around in an ice cream truck, or any such thing...then it is your business. So adopt a couple of kids and live happily...it will be a science experiment to say the least...

Couldn't it all just be random chance..and something we can't explain...that is like asking why some people prefer sprite, while others like tea or coffee...why do some buy like big asses, or some women like dark haired men, or some guys like short women...everyone has tastes and preferences...I find women usually more attractive than men, but I enjoy sleeping with some guys more...hell who knows...but women look nicer than men...anyone can tell...anyway not the point...my point is Who are any of us, to tell someone how they can and can't live their lives...and if the whole world adopts that idea and being homosexual is genetic then it would lessen, although not stop, because there are always other ways to have children that are yours, but you had some help...ya know...so anything can happen and will, but it might be genetic, but I like watermelon bubble gum and nobody else in the fam does...so i feel that tastes and preferences are not genetic per se, but just random traits thrown together on the whim of destiny...

Exactly. And testosterone isn't involved, it does have to do with sex drive and body hair etc. but does not determine ones sexual preference. As ba said it occurs naturally in nature, humans and animals, so its not unnatural or weird...just that more creatures are heterosexual for propagation of the species And animals are not "gay" because they had a weak father figure or because it's trendy. It's how they and some humans are wired.

AND i made that presumption because of the statement the OP made about "dying" out so to speak...

(to everyone) so also to further clarify... its not the Person that is "homosexual" it is the genetically predisposed behaviour that IS capable in all humans to be both homosexual, and heterosexual... which in turn is what makes their bodies attracted to the same sex...

homosexuals still just like heterosexuals have the innate desire to carry on their genetic line... AND THAT is in ALL of us... gay or not...

because they ARE gay they dont "choose" it... but at the same time... when it is explained properly... that animal behaviour is present in all of us... it just takes certain genetic triggers... in which then... it is embodied in the physical form of "attraction"... then displaying itself as having a "preference" toward one sex or the other...

so essentially kind of like how WE ALL start out as "females" then it is the genetic "triggers" in which then produce the physical and psychologically neurological dna and chromosomal encoding which then starts to display in the physical attributes that we all see today... as in the difference between male and female...

i am not homosexual... however, i do understand scientifically how this can be displayed in animal behaviour... and since we are all animals... then it is a VERY easy way to see what is actually going on...

but some people STILL think and are "stuck in the dark ages of repressive ideologies" (you can fill in the blanks on that one ) and that it is only sadly damaging society from understanding the true nature of human behaviour...
