Is it bad for roots to be exposed to light?

I put one of my plants in a clear pot so i could see the roots but is it bad for hem to be exposed to light?

I don't think so but if it bothers you put that cup in a cup thats not clear then when you want to check roots just lift it out and look.

The word is "yes"

I am not entirely certain as to why, but letting light into the root
zone would tend to support the growth of competitor organisms
that the roots do not typically have to deal with. (i.e. algaes)
