Is It Even Possible?

That cutting fan leaves throughout veg, right up until transitioning, could produce a bigger, healthier, higher yielding crop than one whose fan leaves were left alone?

This guy I'm growing with swears by it and has been plucking every single fan leaf once the secondary got about 3 inches long..I haven't quite heard anyone doing this, plucking some during flower I've heard of but this no..am I wrong?

im no expert but i dont think i would strip leaves---somebody in the know help out.doesnt the large leaves feed the plant while growing and budding.i would say dont remove anything from plant still green!!! just my opinion

the plant use the fans leaves to turn light into energy it used to grow, photosynthesis, since fan leaves help in turning light into energy I would say that taking off the fan leaves is a bad idea.

...as simple as I can say it, you really don't want to remove foilage. They are solar panels that feed your plant.

EDIT:...removing foilage actually slows the plants growth (shock/stress). However, "lollipopping/pruining/topping" is another story.....removing foilage during these techniques will be a prerequisite.

Thanks guys, exactly what I believed..

Jean2..do you think plucking all fan leaves, if done only once a week, could be beneficial?

Right now all the plants have transitioned to flower, with yellow leaves coming up EVERYWHERE, I believe its from pulling the fan leaves so the buds are taking energy from the smaller ones. Also the plants outdoor barely reached 4-5 feet compared to the 10 foot monsters I see on here, and for some reason I feel the plucking of all the fam leaves is the cause.

There is miles of debate on this subject.
Some ppl say don't prune anything, some say chop all fan leaves off. Both of those views are too extreme.
The entire gardening/farming community practices pruning. It's only in the canna community that I see such an aversion to it.
There are plants that respond very well to pruning and some that don't like to be touched. If you grow 8 foot monster, yes, eventually you'll have to do some pruning. It's an accepted gardening technique for controlling growth. Personally I doubt that pruning increases yeild, but that's because i don't trust any 'tricks' that guarantee bigger yields. Give them what they want and the plants will grow buds on their own, you don't really have to do anything but grow healthy plants, and you'll get a good yeild every time.
