Is it OK to water diatomaceous earth?

I would hope so. How else are you going to water.
Just get more if you still have bugs.
yes, but that does not answer my question. the plants must get watered regardless. Will my layer of D-earth be ineffective against gnats if its watered, ot will it be ok if its watered and then dries out again.

I've heard that it's prone to molding when wet, but just by word of mouth. My mom's into the human-grade version of the stuff. :)

They way I use D-earth is, i took an old garlic salt bottle (any seasoning bottle will work) and I sprinkle it all over my dirt . I usualy do this the day after watering so it doesnt clump. I don think you need to use very much of this stuff to be effective. in my experience it has worked so far.
