Is it possible extend how many hours are in a "grow day" for ur grow while indoors?

So I was wondering.. I have 3 autoflowers and 3 non-autoflower plants currently growing in a vertical grow with a cool-tube.

I am having an issue planning how I am going to set the 3 non-autos to flower in the weeks to come with out limiting the autoflowers since they require something like 18-6 or even 24-0 and going 12-12 will dramatically decrease their yield. So I starting thinking and was wondering could I just put them on a 18-12 shift? Like 18 hours with the light on and then 12 hours darkness. The plants would just think its a longer day and I can have the best of both types of plants.

Does anyone know if something like this would be possible?

Thank you I hope this starts a nice discussion!

spend a couple of bucks and buy more lights.
I think that with your current plan, you will just stress out the plants with a negative effect on plants.

no. any more than 14 hours of continous light will revert them back to veg state and after that it can take up to 6 weeks to start flowering again.

actually not. it's the hours of darkness that matter, a minimum of 12 hours continuously. there was a sample grow here, unfortunately in the growfaq, that used a flowering schedule greater than 24 hours with 12 hours of darkness and increased their yield quite a bit.

hmm thats an interesting concept then because i have always herd/read that anything over 12 hours light no matter what the dark stage you go back to veg.thanks for the info though i will make it a point to look more into this.

Thank you some good responses.. yea for specific personal reasons any additional purchases will not be possible so I want to work with what I have.

I will do some researching outside of this forum but its really hard to search for that. If anyone else has any insight Im sure i wouldn't be the only one to appreciate the info!!

Yea with that in mind thats why I was thinking this would work... I might end up trying it but hopefully someone else has experience with it.

Yes up to 18/6. I mean your plants are only going to grow to their max genetic code no matter how much light, nutrients, water, etc. So I would go 18/6 and I would decide if I want to do cuttings of one as a mother or am I going to flower them all?

I should have about 2-3 more weeks before I have to go to flower but I really hope I can find a good solution.
