Is it possible for tap water to have a ppm of 0?

Hey

Title says it all. I have a BlueLab ppm meter and was trying to see what my water comes out of the tap at. I tested it once and it read 0ppm. I couldn't believe it so I cleaned and recalibrated the probe. I rinsed it off and stuck it in a cup of my tap water and again read 0ppm. I find this hard to believe, but is it possible. Does anyone else have water with a 0ppm?

I don't think so, something is wrong with the meter. Test spring water, even it is typically around 25-75 ppm. Rainwater I collect is usually between 3-10 ppm.

Seems suspicious to me, I'd say it's possible your meter is defected, try it with lemon juice or orange juice, it should read low acidic.

yes it is possible

the place u are in has a filter system on the pipes.............this can be by the water heater/intake pipe for the whole place or even under the sink itself (it might be done with a water soften system too ) ...........but a reverse osmostive system would make a 0ppm and so would a simple 5 stage filtering systems

if it does not have one of those system test the cold water u should always read a ppm from those (hot water tanks can allow stuff to settle)

to be 100% sure heat some water and mix in salt or sugar and test it .....or use feed in a ml dropper

oh and if u are apartment it is possible they have it in the main intake for the whole building to help reduce the cost of replacing pipes and needing to work due to build up blah blah blah .....and some high end buildings do it to refine the taste of the water since the chemicals can be smelled and tasted by some ppl

An RO system, with a fresh membrane/pre-filter, maybe. Distilled water for sure sould be 0 or 1, and I used to use the ZeroWater 5 stage filter which did produce 0 ppm water for a while, but it still could be from 0-6.

Why is everyone spending over $100 on these bluelab things? Surely quality can't be what gets the price that high, i hear about them going bad too much for that.
