Is it possible to veg with 2700k ?

This is my second attempt at growing, as my first plant got too close to my lighting + poor ventilation which resulted in it frying up. So about 10 days ago I found one seed out of an ounce of some bomb weed. I put it in a damp paper towel to see if it would sprout, and opened it a few days later to find a 4 inch tail with the cotyledon already growing  I planted my seedling about 3 days ago in some unknown dirt I pulled from a flower garden and put it on my window sill. Unfortunately my window only gets sunlight for about 7 hours a day so after a night I decided to put it under some cfl's. I cleared a little area in my closet and set up two 60 watt soft white cfl's (these are all i had on hand) as well as another lamp that has some sort of curved fluorescent tube so I figured it couldn't hurt. So far its grown about an inch and sprouted two more pairs of leaves, but I wanted to know how soon I need to get ahold of some cfls with the right color spectrum? Is my plant even receiving any useful light?

there is a fair amount of blue spectrum in 2700k so yes it is possible but keep in mind that a 6000k - 6500k would veg better. i think they stretch more and grow slower :)

Good to know :-P Ill be able to pick up some daylight cfl's soon but I wanted to make sure it had enough to keep going for now. The stem does seem to be a little bit skinny but I dont have a fan or anything set up yet because it doesnt get hot enough to need one and I heard they gain strength and thicken up with a fan pointed at them.

go to walmart and buy the pack of 2 23w cfls 6500k. i use them in my cab for veg for the first 2 weeks then i start using the 150w and yes get a fan. i got a 7 inch box fan from a yardsale i have a 1 gallon pot upside down and my fan sitting on there blowing directly on the plants. the light is like a half inch from touching the plants. they stay short and bushy until i throw my hps in there :P

Id be more worried about the dirt actually... Never a good idea to use dirt from outside unless you processed it your self... Bugs, molds, bacteria, other plants
