Is moldy weed completely useless?

If you have mold, the only responsible thing to do is throw it out. Anything else is reckless and endangering the health of others.

Selling or giving it away makes one a fuckin shitty person.

Edited to add: even making concentrate has the ability to pass on mold. Yes alcohol extraction could be a possible solution, but health of yourself and others is far more important than your hard work. It's a shitty situation to be in, but in the future have a clean room, a clean drying area, and make sure your buds are ready for your cure when you put in the jar.

Why not make budder for edibles. No smoking involved and if you have no allergies you're good. Or run it through a micron filter comparable to mold spore size.

Because that's not responsible. Molds and fungi have the ability to live in extreme circumstances. Not all the spores are easily destroyed. It's completely irresponsible to use moldy weed in anything. Call it a Loss learn a lesson and move on. I can't believe trying to rescue moldy weed is so important people in comparison to the health and well being of others. Mold is nothing to fuck with. People do die from mold

I was looking for a way to make the weed safe here, and I honestly believe that most people on RIU feel the same way.

I figured the tempratures of cooking or the butane or alcohol would sterilize it again.

It really depends on the type of mold. One option is to immediately quick dry the buds to stop the mold growth, pick through the buds and remove any visible signs of mold, saving this bud for making extractions/concentrates, and smoking the rest. I have smoked moldy buds handled in this manner before without issue.

Your best bet is to be safe and turn it all into concentrates and grow another plant, continuing to work on your drying/curing skills. Good luck OP.

H2O2 and water, dunk them good, let them soak for 5 minutes, take them out of the dunk tub and lightly spray them off with water, hang with a fan directly on them for 5 minutes, do not leave fan on buds for too long, they will dry quick, after 5 minutes of in front of the fan then hang to dry as you normally would. Test at a lab, then smile.

Don't worry about resistance on your fan

All molds are not powdery mildew, this is truly a reckless thing to do.

Imagine being a chef, and serving moldy breads in sandwiches, its worse than that. Mycotoxins are no fucking joke and I doubt you are in any form a mycologist.

More likely too wet when put in the jar.

So if one did leave wet weed in a jar, would it be bud mold or some other type of mold growing on it. Does botyrtis grow on non-living plants? Never done it (never will) but I'm curious.

Hey OP! Was it the white fluffy mold inside the bud?

You are correct, all molds are not powdery mildew, but that's it for your contribution on this subject.

H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is an anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial solution that kills mold

I don't need to be a mycologist or a chef to know that hydrogen peroxide kills mold. That was taught in elementary school science or learned just by watching mom clean the house.

I posted my reply to teach you and others that H2O2 kills mold, whether it's black mold or the mold on your cannabis.

Reckless would be chirping in on a subject you clearly have no solid foundation of understanding about, but use enough big words to trick yourself and a few others that you know what's up.

:dunce:

I simply can't believe that people believe 3% consumer grade h2o2 is the solve all . Its not just mold its the actual spores as well that pose a potential health issue. That's a goddamn joke and really irresponsible advice

It's not like cannabis is fuckin crack, is it really worth it Just to get high? Are people that fuckin desperate? Certainly isn't medical being moldy.

Well I too was skeptical. What was the harm in trying? Saw the shit coming off in the bath. Rinsed the rest, scoped it, clean. It worked. Hate to be missing out on the 6 strains we saved with this, and no, I'm not hurting for good bud either.

Well we have different standards, and when I worked in a hospital, I saw first hand what mold can do to people, shit they weren't even smoking it, giving it a nice clear pathway for an infection.

Using moldy buds isn't worth a trip to the ICU.
