Is my lightbulb good?

okay so my seedling is 4 inches high and im using a 120w energy saving compact fluorescent light bulb. i dont know it says R40 reflector, and it only uses 23 watts, and the light output is 1300 lumens, and the color temperature is 2700ºk. is this a good light bult for growing? PLEASE HELP

yah, your good for a small vegging plant.. you will need more lights for nice sized plant or one in flower..

Once, your plants get more than about 6" or 7", that bulb will definitely be inadequate for that plant. Pick up a couple 42w or higher (42w is just more common at places like target, etc.) and supplement that light. They'll work fairly well for vegging, but you're going to need a bit more wattage if you want to harvest a decent amount. Flourescent's can be placed quite close the the plant. You can put 'em as close as you want, as long as no leaves are getting heat stressed. Also, tin foil can create problem with scattering light and differences in intensity, so, you might want to consider using flat white paint/materials. Flat white will give you more even light distribution.
