Is PH down for swimming pools ok for hydro growing?

Oy. I'm not sure I'd use anything in my hydro grow that you use in a pool. It seems like those chemicals are too toxic for something you're ingesting.

Interesting idea though.

what happens when you get pool water in your eyes or accidentally swallow some.. or how about your body being completely covered in pool water.. you dont think your body absorbs that a little?? just saying...

I do not know the answer, but I do know skin absorption and ingestion are totally different. It may be safe to swim in, but I don't think you can drink pool water in large amounts.

Its the same stuff man..... Sulfate.....Doesnt matter if its for pools or aquariums.....Not to mention you put so little in the res. to move the ph.

Really??? 11-12 dollars for a quart of ph down that will do 100s of gallons and you want to use pool ph down that is loaded with sodium.

What do you think is in pool ph down..Same exact stuff in my GH ph down..i have both, and they are made up of the same exact thing. The op doesnt have money to spend, so yes pool ph down will work. Read the labels.

Sorry most pool ph decreasers are Sodium bisulfate. so i don't think you are correct. GH ph down phosphoric acid, citric acid and mono ammonium phosphate. give me the brand of ph down on your pool ph down and we will see if it is the same.

I will get it to you later.....I guess it matters what brand ph down you have. My pool ph down has phosporic acid, and sodium sulfate in it. I noticed not all pool ph down is the same. So let me correct myself. To the op. it depends what your ph down is made of..I really dont see it being that big of a problem though. You dont even add a third of a teaspoon to the res. to get it down from 8.5 to 6.0...But like i said, it depends on what the Ph down is made of...My bad Jarv. Thanks for bringing that to my attention...

If its for a pool put it in a pool, why even risk it? Ph down is not ph down, there are so many ways to lower ph without throwing in a pool chemical.

No problem. I take care of the pool at work so i know a little about pool chemistry and my concerns would be with the amount of sodium that is in those products. Plants don't like it much.

Having your own swimming pool always keeping an eye on the pH of the pool water. The frequent pH wide range for a residential swimming is usually between 7.2 and 7.6. The pH of the eye is 7.2 to 7.4, and if the pH is much higher than that, you will get red itches eyes.

no, you can't use pH up or down made for pools or aquariums because the main ingredient is Sodium Phosphate or a similar compound using those 2 elements which will become toxic to the plants due to the high sodium content
Someone said this and i agree with him, buy the real thing bro .

If a pro-grower answers with "no", then I'll be asking myself, "would I swim in a pool that has a pH down in it that kills plants"?
Not a good comparison ,your skin can handle more salt than a plant's root system.

Im really stuck with something guys....anyone else experience massive changes in ph from a small drop of ph down? mines taking my ph from 6 to 3 with 1ml or less.....is this normal? im new to growing and the only way around this so far is adding the ph down to a small amount of water and then filling up with tap water to even it out....sometimes end up chucking half a mix away just trying to nail the frakkin ph. anyone? pleeeeeease!!??
