big storm outside so i put my big beer making pot out there to collect a few gallons.

is this worth my time or am i being dumb?

For the most part yes its good, but it all depends on where you live and if you have acid rain or not. I'm not sure what effect smog soaked rain has on plants or how to clean/filter it out.

well, i'm 10 miles from the ocean so i think the sky/rain is acid free. i hope.:peace:
 
Well if its 10 miles from any large city that borders the ocean it aint. You ever flown into San Diego or stood on a high mountain top with a view of a large city? I remember when Mt St Helens blew, my pool had ash in it and I was about 3k miles away. It was forcasted by the weather man beacuse the ash got up into the jet stream. It was freaky man!

Ok I am going to stop here with the rain water thing cuz I can sense people's panties getting all bundled up....(not yours mjmaupin) Rain water is good to use :hump:
 
Fresh rainwater is good. Standing rainwater breeds pests. If it has not rained in a while and your collection bucket has standing water, I am not sure it is very good to use that. It does not take long for mosquito larva to begin growing in that.

I believe ANY standing water breeds disease and/or pests, not just rain.

If you're worried about it, catch some and pH it? I'd use rain over city water any day.
 
I have a large rubbermaid trash can i have been collecting and dumping rainwater into...Anyone have any opinions if i need to add some air to it. I could drop an airstone and a pump into it. I have been using a bucket and scooping it up and dumping it every day.
 
I did this as well as I ran out of DW and didn't want to go to the store. Rain water here is pretty damn close to DW, at only 10PPM and 7.1pH.

Going to start collecting more when it rains. Got 18G over 2-3 hours worth of rain.
 
It seems we all forget that MJ grows wild, with natual sun and obviously rain water. I think that this MJ generation has forgot about the "natural" approach. We all seem caught up in the indoor grow and the fancy new nutes out there. If we can grow good old american crops with it, its good enough for my plants.
 
i"ve been using city water and my plants are doing fine, and growing fats!!! It all depends on the water your city has and the ppm in it. But obviously fresh water would be much better.
 
Rain water is almost always a better choice, because it has less additives . Testing ph is a good idea your ph 5.5 to 7.0 . When using tap water it should be left out in an open container this allows chlorine to evaporate .
I liked to bubble water for plants using an airstone. ph of tap water is ussally to high so ph down would be used. Correct ph allows your plant to absorb maxium nutritents and yeild to the max.
