was just wondering if the first true leaves are counted as a node when counting up to top the plant?? and is it ok to start trimming unwanted lower nodes?? they are nine days vegging [since start feeding and they went under light] two and a half weeks since seed. and they are under a 110 watt t5 twin tube!! :peace:

If you mean the first pair of serrated leaves, above the cotyledons, these are considered the first true leaves. You want to count the next set of leaves as the first true node.

According to Uncle Ben, those first two serrated leaves, are considered the first node.
Sorry to disagree, but Uncle Bens post says:

The node where the cotyledons attach doesn't count.
I would advise you read that article personally, smokedog1, just so you are 100% sure of what you are doing.

The first set of leaves that appear after the 2 serrated ones, whether 3 or not, will be the 1st node.

I am trying to do something else. I topped my topped plants topped sites, so I wanna see if I get any significant growth pattern.

Pics? someone can circle the correct node for you in your pic, if need be!

Cheers.

Yeah Iv'e read the article, good stuff. In fact - had this same disagreement with someone else, I was in your position though. Uncle Ben came over and cleared it up. The cotyledons and the first two serrated leaves do not attatch in the same place. Feel free to double check with UB! If I can find the link I'll post it.
