Is there a benefit to putting lights on the floor?

I have several florescents and a couple of each mh and hps in the 70 to 100 w range. If I use the homemade two bulb hood for the veg I will still have one 100w ballast system.
That's not whats on my drivers liscence.

I'm curious to see what the plants would look like. Since the top of the leave is where it's looking for light, the bottom leaves would likely twist and invert themselves and look all weird. Could be interesting to have colas growing down.

I've read that reflected light (like off a white floor) is OK but lights underneath are not. Don't remember the reasoning though.
I believe lights have some control on auxin/hormone distribution in plants and having strong lighting below the plant can disrupt this, causing auxins/hormones that should be accumulating at the top of the plant to migrate, or just stay, near the bottom. I kind of remember someone doing an experiment to see if it could promote shorter, bushier plants, but don't remember the outcome.

Why dont you just make your grow bigger and keep with the over head grow.
Well this will eventually be perpetual and hidden within my wifes craft room. wardrobe stealth flower room. hollow false front dresser for the mothers and seedling/clones all. I ask because at the moment I am starting over from scratch with regular seeds and I have aquired extra lights for 15 plant (3 each of 5 strains) temporary nursery
Not very concealed right now. I am going to have to hook up the scrubber now. they are now all 4 inchs tall and one strain is going to be .....SMELLY...

Shoooooot... You're the one with the extra lights and space, please tell us!!
THat I am sure I will do barring any contradictory feedback. although its not really space. But since im going 600w in a 2x4x5 and "will" solve the heat issue I thought a couple cfls under was possible and a 4 foot tube in each corner.....you know I want it all..... and smoke it too. lol

Its been 15 years since I ran this cab and it was 150w back in the day. Keeping things nice and tight will be crucial. Thanks for the feedback. exactly what I was needing. the hunt for more knowledge is on. we might be onto something.

don't do under lighting, the underside of the leaf is designed to breath though the stomata for co² .

its some thing like 10% of photosynthesis can happen if light shines underneath but the plants DONT LIKE IT !!

i know someone who did a side by side test and it didn't just 'not work' it hated it .:)

I'll try find a link :)

i was thinking about doing it myself a while ago but decided against it :)

That's what I was wondering. I looked for info but it was not easily found. So I fired one up and waited for the info to find me.......Does that ever work?
