Is there an electrician in the house?

Electrical work can be dangerous, but with proper precautions it is very easy if you're one of the those handy people.
What he said. I am not an electrician, but I have a very good understanding of electricity, and I sought out and studied applicable sections of the electrical code to make sure that i did it right. I have run subpanels from the man panel, installed breakers, wired basements and attics. All the information you need is out on the internet (i.e. google "how to install a circuit breaker" "electrical code for residential" ).
You CAN do this yourself.
Put in 20A outlets, wire and breakers. Use GFCI or AFCI breakers where required. FOLLOW THE CODE. This does two things: it ensures that you are installing safely AND when you are 20 years gone from the house it ensures that someone doesn't get electrocuted or burn down the house.

ok, first, he is probably running 12-2 wire, that has been code for outlets for a minute now. Nothing is going to catch on fire. I do agree that I don't know what I was thinking with 50, (sure you all could take a guess) a 20-30 would fix a lot (which is usually within code). In your current set up you're probably pulling 17-20amps on peak if it is recent issues

Again, I said the cheap way...

EDIT: I have been formally trained in a few of the skills, electrical has always been a hobby that I enjoy. I have seen some crazy stuff from people, most of the danger usually comes from poorly spliced and cut wires...do your research but never listen to the interwebs...
