is this a good ph meter

That would make a terrible PH meter, as it is a TDS meter.
It would make an excellent TDS meter, though.

Yeah, Oakton meters have a good reputation. What is the range on that?

I think it's a 0-1990 meter. I've heard good things about this particular model.
