what you just described is the exact formula or miracle grow rose plant food. Way too much nitrogen.....use a nutrient specifically for cannabis. If you dont have much money use advanced nutrients jungle juice 3 part. All 3 quart bottles are less than $25 from your local hyrdro shop or htgsupply.com and it will last you through a few grows.

What are you growing in, soil? You don't really have to use a plant food "specifically for" cannabis, such plant foods aren't readily available to everyone and really haven't been available at all except for in the past decade or so.

If you're new to growing and plan to grow in soil I am going to describe it like this for you: Soil is alive. Synthetic fertilizers like Miracle Grow and most liquid hydroponic fertilizers have nothing but chemical salts and synthetic chelating agents (EDTA). These things are like heroin for plants. Use them once, you might be alright. A few times or more and suddenly your plant is addicted and you don't even realize it. At some point you have to keep using them. And you have to use higher doses and more frequently.

There are reasons why plants are able to grow in nature without anyone dumping any chemical salts\fertilizers on them; soil is alive. The life, and the organic matter (artifacts of previous life) nourish the plant, but the plant is in control. All you need is a decent soil to start with (no 'feeds for 3-6 months' crap) and a good dry fertilizer rich in organic matter and microbes. They sell Espoma products virtually everywhere you would expect to find plant food. Espoma Tone products come as a 4lb bag and usually cost under $7. Bio-tone Starter Plus is especially recommended, Garden-Tone and Plant-Tone are also fine, even Citrus-Tone (5-2-6) which would go perfect with the Bio-Tone (4-3-3).

For cheap + Good:
Organic- Espoma. Any *tone* will work fine. I use Garden Tone myself. Lime with the mix.

Chemical- Jack's Classic 'Dynamic Duo' (All Purpose and Blossom Booster). Have used it for close to 40 years. It's good stuff. Add lime to the mix.
Dyna-Gro' used this for ~20 years, still do (pro tekt). Grow, Bloom, ProTekt is all you need. More than likely on the lime.

Wet

I used MiracleGro All Purpose liquid 12-4-8 with pure cane sugar and a few pebbles of dolomite lime to balance the pH for a while, worked beautifully. Just keep it to a low dose, and stick with the basic plant care. That's where more yield comes from. TLC.

if that's miracle grow, take the advice you've been given and toss it. you'll thank yourself for going with something organic, and doing a little research.
