Is this grow doomed?

Ok I'm gonna ask that you please don't beat me up too bad on this.. Let me just go over how i ended up where i am now...

It's been a good while since i smoked anything decent, but over the years i've kept whatever seeds from crappy pot i found and tossed them into a jar... so a few weeks ago i threw a bunch into some paper towels and left them there for i dunno.... a week. To my suprise, 27 sprouted up, so i went and got some CFLs (red because i didn't know about that yet) and put them in cups with MG soil to see what would happen, I've since picked up two 6400k CFL lamps (32w each, i think the box says equiv. to 180w) *i realize this is nowhere near good enough, but it's what i've got going at this time* I've moved them up to larger cups to accomodate more root growth and cut the batch down to 20 plants as stragglers have fallen off. They are down in my basement which is positively too cold, under the lights it's a bit warmer but as it is... they've been fed no extra nutrients besides MG seed starting potting mix, tap water, and just the two sad lights. Didn't really expect to become so interested in growing but now i am and i've got to contend wit some financial restraints...

this picture is somewhere around 3 weeks in... can these plants hang on a bit longer until i can work on a better set up or should i scrap the whole thing, take some time to buy proper lighting, and start over when i've got a reasonable setup and some proper seeds? Can they even flower under these conditions?

3 weeks old, some of those are looking pretty bad..I notice that 3 or 4 of those seedlings aren't weed. If you eliminate the seedlings that aren't weed, then a few CFL's should be fine for another week or 2.

The roots aren't going to like clear containers...what are those? cups? do they have drain holes on the bottom? you should re-plant them in dark pots or dark containers that aren't see through.

If you add some more lights, put them in pots and start feeding them some nutrients then they will hang on. But as they are now, they don't have much hope.

Too young for nutes. There still seedlings and they seem to all b cannabis to me but im no expert.
And u should get ur cfls close to them. And do what the guy said above me. Transplant to red solo cups and put drain holes.

they do have drain holes in them- thx for the tip on clear cups... i didn't know it was a factor
the lights are only like an inch or two off the plants,
is it possible that over the years i've purchased bags of weed that contained non-cannibus seeds? I'm not saying it's impossible... but i always kinda assumed that a seed i found in a bud was... weed

There are two plants wi weird looking first leaves, but sometimes the initial growth can be messed, it indicates some kind of damage to the seed itself. If they pull through, they will most likely develop fine. As for everything else, I would say be conservative. Better to make a couple healthy plants than lots of okay plants. My opinion tho, take it with a grain of salt.

Mutants .. Often they become the most potent regardless of the odd start .. Some though continue to mutate no matter , and those I cull

I noticed the mutants right away as they always catch my eye and curiosity

You need more light.

No doubt...but can they hang on for a while until i can get more? I intend to get a 4' x 4bulb T5... that should be able to supply light to a few plants from start until harvest, right? obviously this grow hasn't gone well but there will be more

so whacky looking = great plant if it eventually starts looking normal or kill it if it doesn't?

There so far behind its crazy its just not worth even trying IMHO.

If you have more seeds I'd toss them get some more lights and read up on everything you can until you get funds.

Or a more reasonable thing since your so new at growing would be to arrange the 2 6500k lights and 1 2700k and grow 3 new plants only and they would be fine for awhile

I would still toss those out and start new though

i don't understand why if one bulb covered a bunch of little plants i should trash all but 1 plant per bulb...

i don't mean that in an arguementitive way i just don't understand it - and i do realize that these two bulbs won't cut it if the plants ever grow up

I can put a single light in my room and light up my whole room pretty well ...but that do sent mean I can grow an entire room of plants

Your little cfl needs to be within inches to grow that plant well were talking 3 inches . can you put all those cups under a cfl and only be 3 inches away for all if you could you would be a magician.

Light intensity quickly falls off from fake lights its nothing like the real sun which makes 10,000 + lumens per sq foot

And I personally think that you should toss all of those and start fresh with just a few. The Ines you have are gone and done there 2-3 weeks old? Should be 6 inches high and starting becoming a bush.

I germed a seed 2 days ago and its already bigger then yours

okay... so toss these and start with.... 3 plants? someone mentioned using my blue lgihts as well as red... i thought red was only for flowering?

you can use red and blue for veg and flower grow. the blue makes them more tightly packed together the red would make them grow tall and gangly.

you just want more blue then red for veg but you can combine them to get the entire spectrum.. all blue for veg would be best and all red for flower would be best but if you already have a few red and a few blue you would be fine mixing them together and wouldnt hurt anything especially if your on a budget.

and if your going to use the miracle grow seed starter is fine but go easy on the watering because it has time release nutes in it. the more you water the more it gives them to much will kill them. its the downfall of that soil mix.

and if you mixed up your lights used red cups and had 1 light per plant you would be good for prob a month before you needed more light.
