so im getting ready to buy a light kit. looking at acouple reflectors and dont know if it is too small and wont spread out the light good enough.

the dimensions are 24x17x9 and its guna have a 600watt light.. do you think it will spread the light good enough?

my grow room is 7x7x7 and i plan on putting 3 of these kits in but thats a whole extra kit for nothing alot more energy. im thinkin of just going with 2 xxxl magnum reflectors that are 33x27.

do you think i can get good light distribution with just 2 of the 24x17 reflectors?

so the 24x17 will distribute the light good enough for the room.. great.. do you think 1000 would be better than 600 ? or atleast do 600 for the veg and 1000 for the flowering stage?

You are going to want a little room to open the door and walk into the room so the best way to set it up would be to make your room essentially 7'x6'. The 1' you are taking away is on the wall that has your entrance. So now you have your 2 lights on the back wall of your room. Space them evenly from the back wall, side walls, and eachother. You'll be just fine with 2 600w bulbs. Plus, since your ceiling is rather low you will be able to keep 600w bulbs closer to your plants then you will 1000w bulbs.

got it.. makes sense.. i just felt like the reflectors were rlly small and they were going to spread most of the light straight down as opposed to 3 feet to the left back front and right.. and thought that the bigger reflector would do the trick. but i will take your advice friend.

You will be fine. All you are trying to do is spread the light over a footprint of 42" by 42" per light. That's 21' from center in all directions per light. Any reflector will do that. You will be fine.

yeah when you break it down your right. i have another question maybe you can help me out.. when should i add light to my seedlings? im using a proga. kit and i know i should add light when the first real leaves show up. so does that mean i take off the humidity dome and turn on the flourescent lights when the 1st real leafs show up or when the cytolon leaves show up?

Light goes on immediately. As soon as you put the dome on.

Humidity domes simply keep the medium from drying too quickly when you are using heat mats to aid germination. Heat mats are designed to raise the temperature 10-15 degrees F. above room temperature (to around 80 degrees) and this aids in germination and root developement. Humidity is not so much a factor in germination as root zone temperature is.

Be cautious when using a humidity dome because the medium can also become too wet which will actually slow root growth from lack of oxygen or create fungal problems. In my opinion, humidity domes and heat mats are really only useful for cuttings because they have no intention of forming roots and you must make every effort to force them to create them via rooting hormones, heat mats, humidity domes, etc. The tap root of a seed on the other hand intends to form roots and will even without the aid of a humidity dome.

Once the seedlings have there true leaves (first set of 1 finger leaves above the cotyledons) then remove the humidity dome.

so what method do you use to germinate seeds? because i do think this method is alittle compicated.... but aside from what method you use..so the dome gets removed when the first set of leaves. great.. and then i add the flourescent lights? when i remove the dome correct?

What are you putting the seeds in? Rockwool or soil?

Light goes on immediately. As soon as you put the dome over your rockwool or pots you put the light on. It will keep them warmer than your room which they like and it will also help keep the humidity up inside the dome. Whether your seeds are in soil or in rockwool you just have to make sure that you put a little soil or piece of rockwool on top of the hole in which you put the seed. This will keep light from hitting the tap root while it is sprouting. By the time it pushes to the surface it wants light.

im using rapid rooter soil plugs. ina humidity dome.. with a heating pad.. and then they sprout.. and i usually take the dome off when the first leaves appear but i dont think the plants liked that.

I know a lot of guys who do that and they swear by it. I think you're fine. I germinate my seeds in a wet apapertowel till the seed pops. Then I put them in 1" rockwool starter plugs. Light, humidity dome, heat mat just like you.

ohh so you apply the light even when the seeds in the rockwool before it sprouts... when so you take the rockwool and put it in a bigger container so the roots dont damage? plus 3 of my seedlings are not growing anymore.
