Hi there 1st posting , I have germinated some seeds but am worried that they are stretching!!! They have sprouted and are 5 days old but they are about 2 inch tall with both leaves is this normal ? I'll put some pics up when i get to the pc ! Iam using 4 80watts floursent tubes 4 foot ones and am keeping them on for 24 hours ive read that they should be between 18 to 24 hours on so thought it would be ok temp in the room is 25 however shot up to 30 today I had them in a propagater but took them out as the lights were more then 6inchs above now the lights are about 1 cm away form the tips of the top leaves , they are currently in a grow medium shall i pot them or start again? Pls advice !! First grow after months of reading!!!

What kind of tubes, T5's?

Seedlings can look like their stretching at first, when they start on more sets of leaves you should see them fatten up. No way to tell if you are giving them enough light with the info given.

You sound like you did the right thing getting them closer to the light. Hopefully they wont stretch anymore.

Once you lower the light if they are to tall to stand up strait still try burying some of the stem in the soil. but if they stand then you should be ok by just lowering the light.

tall seedlings can be a sign of strong genetics - 2 inches is nothing to worry about - it is when they reach directly for the light source so hard that they look weak in the stems - 4 - 5 inches in the wrong direction early on can mean that they are stretching - but, it should only happen when your light source is improper - too little light..
