Is this the Beginning of Iron Deficiency?

I adjusted my 2nd res to 5.8, I'll see how long it takes to rise to 6.2 My guess is only an hour or two. The 1st res that i just changed the water and nutes I have not adjusted the ph. I'll see where the ph perfect takes that to on it's on before adjusting it.
 
Nitrogen affects the lower leaves first. Micronutrients and phosphorous middle to upper leaves first like your pics. Ph perfect will not stabilize properly with well water with high alkalinity. The calcium in the water is raising the ph more than the nutes can lower it.

So you recommend manually adjusting the ph, even though it may mess with the ph perfect mix?

Some are saying here not to go below 5.7, whereas i've read and heard before that going down to 5.2 and letting it swing up 6.4 (to cycle through all the range of nutrients) was a good idea. I'm just trying to pinpoint an estimate at least for where to take the ph to. It rises quickly, I don't see why there would be any lockout if it's moving through the entire range in less than 48 hours.

You need to read about water alkalinity and gardening.

How can we know how your water will react with the ph perfect nutes as they are designed to buffer to 5.5 ph with ro water? 0ppm.

It is not the ph that is the issue. It is the alkalinity or hardness. I have well water that is 8.0 ph but it is only 150 ppm. Very stable not very high alkalinity.

But water could be 400 ppm at 8.0 ph also.

sorry I can't help more but I think if you micromanage your ph without knowing what is in your water and how it will react with your nutes you will keep chasing your tail.

May have worked better with hard water nutes like gh 3 part with hard water micro.

Yeah I just ordered tds meter 20 minutes, so in two days I'll know how the water quality is. It's well water, so it should be pretty alright. We have a water softener, so the water shouldn't be too hard.

I'll try managing the ph in the proper ranges until the meter comes, see where that is, and report back here to let you all know how things are going.

If you are using softened water that is likely the main problem. Most softeners replace the minerals in the water with salt.

Just for your stats, if you are including tap water in this sentence:
"water could be 400 ppm at 8.0 ph also"
vegas tap water is 8.0 most of the time and ranges from 475 to 525 ppm throughout the year.

I have had great success with $150 eBay purchased ro machine. I would never put it under the sink I have heard horror stories of leaks. I hooked the intake to a shower head. The unit sits on the base of the tub. I use 3 gallon water jug's fill them and move the water as needed. Have cleaned it and replaced all the tubing already. Never leaks but if it does it will go straight down the drain. And I have a tube for the wastewater to go straight into the drain. I can change it back into a shower in less than 10 minutes if needed.

Yea that's fine I just had seen someone mention buying it, and I can't imagine buying gallons of water. Would be too costly.
 
Well I found the place in the pipes in the basement where I can get the water straight from the well, before going through the softener. So I'll def use that on my #2 res i'll be filling in the next few days.

But, since I just changed the water on the #1 res this morning, using the softened water, I'm going to keep it that way for 6 days or so and see if just having altered the ph to optimal levels will fix the issue. If it doesn't, then I'll know surer that it is because of the water softener.

Yeah I have my ppm meter coming on thursday. Interested to see how the quality of water is here. I think it's pretty good, we'll see.
 
Wow, the ph actually is remaining stable...not rising fast like it was before. I had a funky smell in my last rez, def some bacteria action going on. I wonder if that was what was rising up the ph so quick. After I emptied it and sterilized, I made sure the buckets were light proof, and that seems to have fixed it fully.

So that's good news, so far. It's been like 6+ hours and the ph hasn't gone up even a bit. Last time, in 6 hours, it was up 3 or 4 points.

I put it low anyway, around 5.2 because i thought it would rise up fast. I'm going to check again tonight. If it's still 5.2, I'll add some fresh water to raise it up towards 5.8
 
I think they look pretty healthy though. The indica is already starting to stink. I haven't smoked in years, that smell is blissfully haunting.
