Yeah, you can use that, I use those, and am in the process of setting up 8 of them. Actually you can get them in 42w I think. Also get some of the warm white variety too. I think it would be of benefit to use both warm and cool white at the same time. Saves on having to change from one type to the other during flowering. Be warned though I am in the process of my first grow, so I might not know my ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to mixing the two. So far so good with it though. I am thinking of using 8 to 12 of that type bulb to make sure I get enough lumen coverage as well as penetration of light. Hope it works out for you.

Grow331, if you use 12 of those 42 watt cfls, the cost for all those lights would be about the same as a good 400 watt HPS light, plus 42x12= 504 watts used, and that is not as good as just a 400 watt hps. I do use those 42 watt cfls along with my 400 watt light, but I use them for side lighting. I have 4 of them around my grow.

I have seen some good grows with cfls only, but in the end, a lot of time, the cost ends up being the same as a good light would be, with out the PUNCH.

or you could get a t-5, 4' 8tube, 440 watts equivalent to a 600 watt hid and avoid all the heat issues of the hid? VV
