Is topping pointless/harmful?

I've done both, as I only have a foot and a half of clearance for the plants AND the pot. The biggest yield I have ever got was from topping -> scrog, yielding 2.5 oz from 4 23 watt CFLs. This was all due to an even canopy.

If you have time to LST (which most people do) then I would go with that. If not and you're looking to keep 'em short without having to tie tons of stuff down, then topping works well.

exactly, the article wasnt about which is better lst or topping, it was saying that topping was pointless, which isnt true.
