ISO Used Car Buying Tips

Dammit cn are you saying if I convert the engine I can put straight french fry oil in not processed?!

: dunce: really? freakin ADD

I read about this two years ago ... i was intrigued and thinking of getting a Diesel. If you take the grease and do the conversion with methanol, you get biodiesel which will run in unmodded car engines. However if you want to run the grease "as is", the fuel injector system (a complex expensive assembly) needs to be changed. So you pay one of two ways. Since I love playing mad scientist, you can imagine which I'd choose. (Plus the advantage of having a car that'll happily run on pump fuel ...)

I'm sorta Dieseling myself right now ... gonna go service my injectors

wait ... that sounded weird. i mean smoke more, then go on Chocolate Safari. cn

OK I am catching up but I must remind you that when you explain such matters to me to Please remember to explain as if to a child? I will not be offended. I haven't looked into this for quite some time myself and am shocked that it hasn't taken off! What am I missing? I realize now I got confused talking to a guy who you would get along with great in one of my classes about it and he must of been talking about converting the fuel but I mistook it for the filtering process but in reality this really complicated process is only needed if you don't convert the engine!

So for around $3200 I can get someone to convert it and the filter and why is this not like what all the cool kids without rich daddy's are doing? :eyesmoke:

How remote? Maybe we can work out a little something, you feel? How much overhead on this conversion you think? I could be the Jesse to your Walt
 :o bongsmilie

I wish I could, mellow ... these are the fragments that my hemp-lubed lobes could piece together.

Unconverted fry grease is a good fuel, but it is viscous (thick) compared to Diesel, be it petro or bio. Either Diesel will work fine in an unmodded fuel injection system. To burn straight (filitered) grease in a Diesel engine, the fuel injection system needs to be reworked. What i don't know offhand is who does that and for how much, and if kits are available that a decent mechanic could install. I will eventually need to go through all that again, and maybe that time I'll be smart enough to take notes. (Shyah right.) cn

Here is a good site for the kits for ANYONE cough cough it saves money on gas cough cough

http://www.frybrid.com/

But cn just ballpark at the end of the day how much per gallon would one need to sell your modified grease at per gal to break even? Is it low enough to consider working with car dealers to sell diesels and promote this fuel?
