One of our good friends has a nephew who's been working at the LHC there. Pretty cool schtuff! :D

I believe CERN is a European venture, but either way, money should be going to research like this, in my opinion, and I'd be willing to kick in U.S. dollars.

From what I gathered the US already does it at a place called (RICK) and its about 1/8th the power of the (LHC). The RICK has been doing this stuff for awhile in the US and has done testing for the LHC.

CERN's responce to the Black Hole Theory http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrT6kUHVPjw&feature=related

PS they have a hot PR lady =)

Every time i hear something about some device potentially destroying the world,i think its potentially bullshit,except a nuke:-P

Even if a minuscule black hole is made [and minuscule is the biggest it could possibly get] then it would take millions of years to affect us .. We would probably be extinct by that time anyway.

im confused i thought minuscule was small and how would it take millions of years to affect us

because a teeny tiny pinhead size black hole can't suck the whole earth in. It would be like the blob, getting bigger each time it sucks something in.

hey can we get that black hole sent to Washington DC by chance?

I probably should have been more clear .. I meant that IF a black hole is formed, the biggest it could possibly get is VERY tiny.. So tiny that it will takes millions of years to expand big enough to affect the earth. This is what I am hearing anyway.. I'm hearing all different theories about what is going to happen. The truth is no one really knows because we've never taken on such a big project about something we know so little about ..

This LHC project will collide the the pieces that make up the atom and make new parts of atoms we've never seen before. That's the scary part.

I think its all pretty cool but I'm kinda crazy like that.

Ive been reading alot on it and basicly it goes like this.

E=m*c2

so then to be a proper equation

M=e/c2

They will be doing this Making Mass (Hopes are the HIGGS partical will be one of the new masses that they make) From Energy (electrons from an atom containing protons/neutrons) then Divided by the speed of light in a vacuum (The accelerator will accelerate the two parts of energy till they are both traveling at such speed and then collided to "divide" the parts of the protons/neutrons that are still further broken down into "quarks" which will then fuse into new proton/neutron masses).
